Middle of nowhere is fine if you’re talking about open roads and mountain stretches. I’m talking about a tiny town surrounded by highways, not bike friendly unless you enjoy riding up and down a 5 mile street for a few hours. Besides, any time I’m actually in my college town I’ll be too tired to ride.
And rusty piton, no worries. Any time I see a nice frame that theres no way I’ll be able to afford in the foreseeable future I kinda feel that I’d be able to treat it better than the owner. Obviously its usually not true, but it doesn’t stop me from feeling it ah.

Heading off to college in a week so this build won’t be finished till some time this winter. On the plus side it should give me enough time to track down the parts for a particular campy group I’ve wanted to put together for far too long now.

how could you leave that at home? bring it to school, build it, ride it!
as far as my next build, uh i have an SLX Rossin Record with Campagnolo Ergo…what next build?
I run xc and track for my college so I’d be too tired to ride most of the time. More importantly I go to college in the middle of no where, with no good routes or places to ride. Kind of a major step down from riding in Philly.
you have got to be fucking shitting me
middle of nowhere riding>>>>city riding
wtf
wtf
edit: just saw second page, this has been discussed in the same manner
I saw PROMONARC’s C’mute in person last weekend and was surprised that it isn’t a total hunk-a-junk.
I’m pretty sure that it was lighter than my crosscheck. Although that ain’t saying much.
Edit: I also agree with Ryan’s statement.
Its nothing special except for the fact no one really knows what it is. I picked it up in an auction as my first full build a few years ago (i guess its special for me since it was my first full build). There are no identifying marks on the frame other than the columbus stamped drops. The only other major clue about it was the fast back seat stays. I’ve talked to several bikers and builders that have been involved in bikes longer than I’ve been alive and no ones sure about what it is:
I’ve slightly outgrown the frame, but refuse to get rid of it. Never had more fun with any other bike.
Selling my motobecane and buying a gios. Probably gonna buy another newish complete road bike on swedish craigslist, rip off the components, sell the frame and use the components on the gios. Might rock the gios fixed in the winter. The bike doesn’t HAVE to be a gios, but there’s a good chance.
haha, thanks but I picked up a new pair of milers for $10 last season. Still have at least one more season left in my xc spikes too. And my college is about an hour from here, I’ve just lived in Philly for the past 14 or so years.

This frame is beautiful. It’s not like goddamn old-school mystery Italian steel beautiful, but definitely one of the nicest tig-welded frames I’ve seen.
