I don’t think. Just our normal 80amp tips. I have some parts at 30amp to cut so I might try them again at that amp.
Also I love the look of that seat^^

This thread should have been called “Post your 80s road bike now that you’ve realized variable speed bikes are cooler than fixed gears.”
“Post your unconverted conversion.”
I have absolutely no projects right now. Unless you count going back to school as a project.
Or maybe there’s just a lot more to building a road bike than there is to building a fixed gear? I mean, who here can’t build up a brakeless track bike in under an hour or two?
BUT I’M BUILDING A FIXED GEAR!!!
I am too, actually. I was planning on doing it today but instead I’m sitting on the porch and internetting.
norimitsu shiromoto bike status…
(THE ONLY FUCKING WEBSITE ABOUT THE FRAMEBUILDER IS ON GEOCITIES HOW COOL IS THAT? http://www.geocities.jp/team_shiromoto/)
ahem anyway
-gipiemme rear wheel with that silly lacing in triples
-ultegra/cxp 33 front wheel
-cheap FSA octalink crankset + BB
-ultegra 12-25 cassette
-ultegra front derailleur
-ultegra brakeset
to come from parts bin:
-stem
-saddle
-seatpost
-bars
still need:
shifty bits, pref. bar ends
chain
rear derailleur
brake levers
I’d just do drop bars with bar ends. I can’t really see a reason not to, unless you’re just trying to do a parts bin build.

He got bug-eyed glasses, a hilarious skinsuit, and a packet of cigarettes with the purchase of that saddle.
Does that saddle come with a license to be a primadonna jackass?

I agree. That doesn’t make him any less of a primadonna jackass.
in a week or two, i’m going to transfer the parts from my schwinn to my dad’s old univega road frame (black to blue fade). nice frame. plan is risers, cranks/bb from schwinn, wheels from the house, fenders, wald basket up front, nobr akes if i can get chain tension good on vertical drops. if not ss with tensioner. any suggestions on the basket. i’m feeling the 151 drop top basket. gonna use for light commuting to hold a back pack and just looking sweet.
I will be getting a KHS aero track frame and fork on monday to start a build. it looks just like this one here.
