For some Dub cranks it probably comes in handy versus doing the âwrap an inner tube around the crank and hex wrenchâ method of boosting your loosening leverage.

Iâm picturing a terrible slingshot so I need a bit more explanation
Iâve done this a few times to remove stubborn Dub cranks. It works, but if I were a shop mechanic Iâd consider the special tool instead.

But⌠why not just put a cheater bar on your 8 or 10mm Allen wrench?
agreed, although you still need a way to stop the cranks from rotating
The inner tube thing actually doesnât take that long and using a cheater bar means you either need another person or you have to securely strap the NDS crank to the frame.
Also itâs kind of amazing how strong a normal butyl inner tube is.
That tube method is hilarious. I can see a use case for the special tool for the kind of person that would rather buy a tool than use natural leverage.
Remove wheels. Put bike on floor. Put nds pedal on floor, step on pedal. Push down on long handle 8mm. 100% success rate.

I hope that tool is strong enough so that when something is stuck bad enough that you really need it, some little part of it doesnât just break instead. But I wouldnât have a lot of faith.
Picturing it at work on a triple shows a good sense of the target demographic though.

I broke my second arm getting super jumped off the trampoline and landing on the stump of that tree after it was cut down
