Bike videos

The last scene (thumbnail) made me nauseous.

Same. It does look wider in the end, which makes sense given the size of them, but still. shudders

I’ve been at the base of an 80 m tower. The blades are massive.

That tower he is on is supposedly 70 m. I was wondering how much it would flex with him being at the tip like that, but I see they guyed it with a fat piece of webbing.

No idea how big this was, but it was loud and kinda scary just standing near it.

I think that’s just a fixed line for his safety tether, you can see it trailing behind him when he rides out.

Didn’t really understand how big these things are until I saw this video a couple months ago:

TIL: those blade tips travel at around 80 m/s or ~290 km/h. Pretty wild.

That one looks particularly fucking HUGE but you see the blades on I-84 going into the Columbia Gorge pretty often. They are massive.

Ha. There is a turbine 1.5 kms from my house (as the crow flies) . I just googled it up. Blades only 20.8 metres long. In the local wind farm a few more kms away they are 40 metres long. Still babies by comparison to those big mofos.

I saw a bunch at the port of Olympia back in 2008 when I would go down there all the time to hit on the person I would later marry, took me a few weeks to realize what they were

Remember this?

Oh wow I never really noticed, but is this origin of all MTB vids seeming to begin with a wake-up get out of bed ride your bike out your yard sort of intro?

Wow he sucks so much. 12 minutes and we’re talking about firearms, children soldiers have been mentioned, he’s mixed up the words holocaust and apocalypse, and now we’re onto Nazi Germany armaments.

yoooooo wait and this is nominally a bike engineering video?

Discussing “modes of engineering” citing firearms as examples.

Richmond Virginia bike club for young people. It’s a good group and a cool story. One neat part: almost all the mtb trails and parks and whatnot featured are threaded into the middle of the city.

Somebody posted a great mountain bike video, it was pretty long, and it was a bunch of locals horsing around all winter, they rode through a ski resort, watched kinda like a skate movie. I can’t find it, does it ring a bell for anyone?

Edit: I found it:

Edit whoops wrong link.
