i met trey jones some years ago and he was a huggge arsehole. in fact many pro bmx dudes are atmo. i kinda stopped riding coz bmx bros are fucking awful people. idk why im saying this
but yeah id say 10-15 yrs ago bmx was way crazier than it is now, espeically in the realm of contest tricks. not on the level of progression in the 80s bmx boom but after coming out the 90s bmx was on a roll. but street riding is where its at. that is the heart and soul of bmx, trails too.
idek where im going with this but i miss being a bmx rat and riding street all night and borrowing beat up props vhs tapes and not being so jaded about it

Doesn’t surprise me about Trey, TBH. I love his riding but he does seem like a shitty dude.
Late 90’s BMX (and skateboarding!) was insane. Dudes jumping off huge shit on 40 pound terrible bikes.
This shit will probably get you psyched if you haven’t seen it yet Dorth:
Van mfin Homan still killin it harder than anyone.
I was olllllllld time friends with Rick Thorne, back when he was driving a shitbox Honda hatchback around St. Louis and riding my backyard mini. I was like 15 and he used to chew my ear off about his wife and the troubles they were having (who tells a 15 year old that shit?) and all the work he was putting into tricking out his Honda. About a decade later, Warped Tour was in town, and I ran into him at the Apple Store, surrounded by a posse of gigantic black bodyguards, because apparently this wastoid needs protection at a suburban shopping mall, because someone whose cable gets ESPN8 (probably channel 451 on your box) might recognize him, and attempt to stab him and steal his “BMX BRO” tattoo or something. Anyway, he blew me off. I thought it was a funny story, but really the only funny part is that Rick Thorne travels around to Warped Tour with bodyguards.
Rick Thorne is a bumblefuck. I was a fan of his before I met him once at a skatepark in Ohio. I felt like I had to apologize for wanting to say sup. Last I heard he still owns that civic.
On the other hand, Van Homan… is Van Fucking Homan.
7 minute SF vid. Not pro dudes, but great style. Love this one.
Was able to ride outside for a bit yesterday. Really wanted to learn forward foot pedal feebles, but it wasn’t happening. I keep getting the bottom of my crankarm on the ledge instead of the flat part of the pedal.
