BMX/Awesome thread

9+ is “tall” ito me. I like mine around 8, 8.25 (whatever s&m slam bars are)

but stem choice/spacers/ht length come into play too. I like top loaders so I run a shorter bar coz I think I get more hop-height and mid-air control from a lower front end. but there are obviously people who kill it on extreme setups

That video had me on the edge of my seat.

That made my day, Fred!

Awesome!
Bars are a lot taller than they used to be. Mine are 9".

Couple that with 13.75 CS and it’s not the easiest bike to manual, but it flies over dirt and pumptracks
I am running S&M Hoder highs (9") with a Merritt top load so not super high but I did just hack about 1cm off the fork and drop to one spacer under the stem. Holy shit I can’t believe the difference in feel, so much better. I still can’t manual well.

oh man that video was really exciting. i also didn’t know stairs could be legendary, but i guess those are nice because of the super long run in and landing area?

It’s a high school in southern california (near Irvine), and since a lot of photographers and such for skate and bmx magazines are in california, a lot of famous pics are taken at that staircase. I’m sure the run in and run out help for making it a good spot, but I think the longstanding history is what makes it such a big deal. Kind of like how there’s a lot of winding steep mountain roads, but the alpe d’huez is a certain kind of special.

bruh have you even Alpe d’Huezed?

it’s pretty rare for stairs to be built without landings breaking them up into sets of ~10

safety regulations, fire codes, the ADA, etc. all mean that doesn’t happen anymore

lots of spots (stair sets, ledges, loading docks) hold “legendary” status for bmx bros. certain ones pop up in almost every companies videos.

this always gets me just as stoked as it did when I was like 14.

That whip was so ridiculous. Kid is 16.

Church Gap

The day after this happened I was at Trend and it’s all anyone was talking about. I remember being sofa king stoked when the video finally showed up in the mailbox.

Been watching a lot of BMX videos while exercising. Really into all the videos Rich Forne has done for Federal. The last three short videos on there are really enjoyable.

Went from 175 to 170 cranks recently and it feels so much better. Curious to try 165s.

I want a reason to use this

Fuck

Oh Damn.

Needs to be vanagon shaped tho.

it was warm enough to ride the silly bike two weeks ago with my son. my manuals have miraculously improved after three months of not riding my bmx bike. i think it is easier with slightly less air in the rear tire for me? that’s my only explanation.
