I am the proud owner of a “spirited” 5 year old, the border collie of children, who is currently deep into his hostile negotiations phase as well as a new refusing to go pee until he pisses his pants phase. All I am is outside.
I need 10 hours of sleep, a 3 hour mountain bike ride, and a meal that I dont have to cook or clean up for.
I had my first CAT6 encounter in ages on Friday. I am not fast and don’t pretend to be so I am used to getting passed on the bike trail. On Friday I got passed by this guy that was like a Weekend MAMIL starter kit: Team Radioshack jersey, 20 year old Big 3 road bike, chain that hadn’t been lubed since Team Radioshack dissolved, and grinding it out at 60 rpm on the flats.
That’s all fine. I super don’t care. But he passed me right before the downhill part of the trail. And of course on the downhill, he’s riding on the hoods, wiggling back and forth over the center line, and then finally when the trail turned upward a little he just about came to a dead stop. Again, I am not fast, but I just breezed by him on the left and continued on my merry way.
I think getting passed by a fat guy in a pink shirt must have really got to him because about a mile later after the trail flattened out again it was all CREAK CREAK CREAK on my ass again and away he went. I think that counts as a defeat for me but still thought it was funny anyway
Was just lined up at the light with a mob of every imaginable type of wheeled conveyances all elbowing for position. Cars cleared the intersection and I gun the throttle to clear the mess. We all got dropped by a dude on a hardtail dirt jumper sprinting for the pts slaloming the flexi posts up Allen street. Impressive pull
I have a regular Kate Spade laptop sleeve and it’s nice and cost $50. I dunno if the ortleib guy is worth $50 but that seems to be the going price for a good sleeve.
Kind of a weird one today. Went and did some intervals before work, and on the way back on the bike path I get passed at a stop sign by a guy on inline skates. I’m just cruising back home and his pace initially seems faster than mine, but then it becomes rather variable. I don’t want to overtake him and play leap frog so I just hang out behind him, eventually going slower and slower.
Eventually he slows enough that I pass him, he apologizes if he was getting in my way, but then said he was hoping that he could pace off of me. He said that he wanted to maintain 17-20mph & it was a quiet morning on the bike path, so I said lets do it & I pulled him along for 2-3 miles.
I think he ended up getting 2nd overall on a segment. I should have pulled a bit faster!
