Had a W with the two kiddos on the box bike.
Heading back from a downtown park meetup we slowly reeled in a couple of folks pacelining by the harbor. They saw us coming and tried to push on.
We caught up and I pushed a bit, motor cuts out at 20… I think I held 22 for 3/4 of a mile to drop em for good then cruised over the bridge into west seattle without them in sight.

Fuck off. The bike is 7 feet long and weighs 100lbs and had two kids in it.

Also is like 1st gen shimano steps class 1 ebike.

Holding more than 20mph on a cargo e-bike limited to 20 is definitely an accomplishment lol

I was riding with my daughter on my E-longtail Saturday morning. We were on the paved bike trail for a while and I knew it was going to be a weekend warrior pathlete shitshow, but I was still shocked by the dude who was definitely trying to draft us at 12 mph then tried to pass me unannounced when I slowed down to go around a jogger. I say “tried” and “unannounced” because when I shoulder checked and he was now just to the left of my asshole, I yelled “WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE?” before he squeaked out an “on your left!” and took off

I am usually not maxing out the assist on my cargo bike but honestly even in turbo mode I think a determined jock could still pull away from me. They’d be working a lot harder but they could definitely pull away!

Assist motors are absolutely forbidden in any sanctioned category 6 races!

We demand a cargo bike exemption

Maybe a morphological-style exemption but instead of for limb length it’s a # kids/cargo mass-based thing?

Class 1 is permitted.

Class 2 and 3 are grounds for sanctions.

I’m sorry but if you have any type of motor on your bike and I don’t, we’re not in the same race. I’m not saying you didn’t work hard. But it’s not a race. We don’t cat 6 race against cars.

as long as we have @Rusty_Piton out here kid hauling acoustic, no exemptions for cargo. if you want to juice, youre going to have to juice cat 6 the old way, rails of adderall and overgeared track bikes

It’s harder to ride a cargo class 1 e-bike at 22mph than most bikes.

Don’t UCI our fun bro. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I would definitely not try to steal any CAT6 valor on an e-bike but a big Class 1 bike with a kid on the back is not automatically KOM (King of the MUP)

Tell me about all the elevation rusty does around Chicago?

The UCI is proud to announce the following additions to the 2025 World Championship Event Schedule.

  1. The Acoustic Single-Person Cat 6. This traditional event goes back to the roots of Cat 6 racing, where participants must go into the local community and shame other cyclists by being slightly faster than them in a race that only they know exists. Split into age groups 18-19, 19-19.5, 19.5-20, 20-20.5, 20.5-20.75, 20.75-21, etc.
  2. The Acoustic One-Rider-One-Passenger Cat 6. No cargo boxes allowed. Same age categories as above, split into “people from flat places” and “people from hills places”
  3. The Acoustic One Rider-Multi-Passenger Cat 6. Cargo box mandatory, otherwise same as above.
  4. The Cat 1 E-Bike Cat 6. Only cat 1 e-bikes. Same categories as above, with the addition of bike colors. If your bike is a primary color, you are in one category. All other colors are in another category
  5. Open Cat 6. Anyone is welcome, but all the categories still apply

Ideally this means that everyone with a bike gets a world championship medal which is ultimately our goal as an organization.
