Celebrity poopbarn

His final push to Yorktown was a 35 hour effort from the state line to the coast. Something like 375 miles.

Dude could seriously “smell the barn”.

I used to run slammed forward on my sw8 fixie then I moved more to mountain and other bikes and moved cleats all the way back then one day I found an old pair of shoes that had the cleats all the way forward and it took me a while to figure out how I even used them. Then I remembered I ran low gears and spun fast and did lots of ankling

Feck. That is some serious elevation. I wonder if its all graded paths like that. Hopefully not. 4000 meters in 118kms is pretty respectable .

is this a euphemism for shit his chamois?

as I recall the navad 1000 is like one of the most elevation-intense bikepacking races out there; the whole race has like 33,000m or over 100,000ft of climbing over the 1000km/621 mi, which imho is pretty fucking ridiculous

lael rode it last year and there’s a great video of it that rue made

That’s “pooped the barn” while rolling

Thanks for the vid! Looks like buddy Matt has 48kms to go, and Nils, 112kms. Yeah that’s insane elevation. I did a 280km poopbarn event last year with around 8000 metres climbing, but that’s only a quarter the distance, and less climbing per km. Damn, looks very scenic ! https://www.instagram.com/matt_dewes/

The TD has turned into a complete epic. The early leader Sofiane, got caught out in a snow storm while he had a big lead. After realising he was lost, he back-tracked to a lodge, where a bunch of others had also holed up. There were only 4 riders ahead of the lodge and they grovelled their way forward. Of the 4, both Josh Kato and Steve Halligan had big crashes in the snow and are nursing some pretty serious bruising. Timing was everything and Chris Seistrup was able to hit the front and drop everyones ass. Sofiane has scratched. Lael has scratched.
Apparently Chris Seistrup is a Haemophiliac so if he crashes he is in trouble.
He was barely in the top ten for a long time, but seems to have ridden his own race.
It would be cool if he pulled it off. That would mean in the last few years, the winners would have been.

Check out the footage of Chris Seistrup at one of the web-cams. I think this has mad him the dot-watchers favourite. Not sure if it will work for long given the way FB/IG work.

Its looking really like no fun at all out there right now.

Yup he got poo brained. So it’s down to Alexandera Houchin and the SS riders? Shame on the Cabbagevist for not covering them.

Alexandra sounds like a real hard arse!

Nico scratched this morning. He is running out of time/money. The hold up at the pass fucked his very tight schedule. So I think there’s just one SS now

My buddy Geof is still SSing.

Probably limited disadvantage in the shittier conditions.

I have carried a “shiv” before, made from a tooth brush, in some CX races, I usually end up giving it to the guy on a fat tubed carbon bike ; )

For anyone wanting to follow the TD, this is the lazy mans way, this dude collates all the stuff from the forums, the FB and the IG, and of course the trackers.

Thanks for the link, the situation at the BML wasn’t really clear but after reading through day 9 10 and 11 wow what a mess.

It’s a shame too from the looks of it everyone was really cookin’ until the weather came in.

Yeah, then theres the bit about the dude on the touring bike who rides through while they are all hunkered down and says no probs. The gap between Steve and Chris looks to have been constant for most of today I think. Oh yeah, and there is Laels explanation on IG on why she pulled out. Interesting stuff. The rules seem pretty strict.

the dude on the touring bike was 24-48hrs later, and a whole heck of a lot can change in that amount of time. Eight sunny hours can turn a muddy disaster that’s impossible (or at least very dangerous) to even hike over, much less ride, into something that’s not exactly pleasant, but at least doable.

Lael was very uniquely under a LOT of scrutiny, which was definitely (at least in part) the Boy’s Club mentality of this kind of thing. Rue and the rest of the crew went to a lot of previously-unheard-of extremes to keep the naysayers from protesting too much. Lael even agreed to not use her cellphone to make calls at all, and only use it to record voice memos for the film they’re making, a restriction not leveled against the rest of the field. All of it was proposed to and approved by the race organizer.

In the end, she was still riding her own ride and had every right to call off her race when it became clear she wasn’t gonna realize her goal this year. Like the post said, she just wants to be riding her bike… she’s still riding the route, just “touring” it rather than “racing”. Funnily enough the same dudes pissing about her race are now saying she shouldn’t even be riding the route, since as she knows many of the competitors, her presence there as a non-racing rider jeopardizes the legitimacy of their results. Which… lmao.
