I carry a few nitrile gloves on the bike for dirty/greasy stuff, mostly just use a tool to manipulate the chain instead of my fingers when I can.
Eh… I wash my bike more often now than I ever used to, but still it’s only every couple months or so. Many of my mixed-terrain rides are next to the bay. I failed to rinse the old gravel bike off after a messy ride once and a few weeks later the chain and cassette had a bit of rust. These days I quickly rinse things off after a messy ride.
Waxed chains are surprisingly clean. I just ride the hell out of them until they get too noisy for me to bear, then a quick wipe and into the wax.
So, yeah, my things are clean-ish.
Oh, I also apparently chose dirty chain lyfe over kidlyfe. You do you.
My lower headset cup is installed with Loctite 609 because it’s definitely undersized and I ran out of patience
hy
Yeah i do the same except I ride the factory lube and replenish with whatever chain lube is at hand when it gets loud.
You can also just pour it in the yard
In the shape of a giant dick, right?
Either that or the mascot of your alma mater
After years of thinking it was a 58, I read the serial number of my too small Merckx and measured it, and both means agreed it was a 56. I thought this 58 was just too small for me.
Having flashbacks to a moment as a teenager where I had a shirt that fit that said SM for the size, which I thought was “small medium”, a half size between small and medium. I could never find any other shirts in small medium, just smalls and mediums.
Follow up confession: I’ve only owned two bikes that fit. Way more in the 54-57 range than the 58-60 range
Shopping for cycling socks long ago, I found some Specialized doctor approved guys. They all had MD stamped on em. Imagine my disappointment when I finally found the larges but they were all stamped LG and had no such doctor’s endorsement.
I used to have a cheap pair of shoe covers. I’d always put the first one on my left foot after seeing the tag that said “L” then wouldn’t look at the tag on the other and put it on my right foot. Thought it was really dumb that the reflective strip was on the inward facing side but figured “what ever they’re cheap pieces of shit.” One day the reflective strip was on the outside and I realized the “L” stood for large.
The LG ones are approved by licensed geologists
about ten years ago I bought the same REI wool socks in M and L, thinking I’d wear the larger ones for cosy times. except I bought them in the same colourway so every time I wash those socks I have to peek at the size to match them
Smedium is a vibe
Stamped and signed.
Crashed hitting a pedestrian for the first time today and the way was so dumb and entirely her fault I just yelled at her for a minute then rode off. Didn’t ask if she was okay, didn’t care
TC my commute is far more enjoyable on a bike with 42x11-34 gears than it was on a SS 42x17.
was she walking backwards into the bike lane on her phone cause I know her.
