Confessions: Untrued and unlubed

I almost hit a ped this morning when they jumped out from between two parked cars in the middle of a block. Missed 'em by inches.

TC I am trying to decide between biking to the store by myself this afternoon or driving to the store with the baby after work and I am leaning toward driving for the daddy x daughter time

No, there was no bike lane. She popped out from behind a truck in midtown and had a deer in the headlights reaction instead of taking one step back. There were cars on either side of me so I couldn’t maneuver around her. Slammed on the brakes and knocked her over while going over my handlebars.

BITD this thread was called true confessions (but mostly stealth braggin’)

I was looking at old races on Strava and saw my total hours, and remembered this thread since what I was thinking fit perfectly with the old title.

It feels like I’m getting close to finishing bikes, 1 year seems long enough. Maybe I’ll space out my remaining time and skip the really crap weather days or when I don’t feel 100%. Maybe I’ll ride less each day and get in more total days. Maybe I’ll just keep going forever.

True confession: I just installed a new dangler… and just ran a new cable through the old housing.

Did you at least pop off the ferrules and trim the ends of the stranded cable flush with the jacketing?

No.

Did you at least check to see if the cable moves through the housing smoothly?

A couple drops of Tri-flo and you’re fine

I probably would have reused the old cable, albeit a little shorter from trimming the crimped bit off.

That’s what I did when I switched my emergency randonneuse to disco lyfe; took the rear cable & housing and cut them down for the front spyre.
