not particularly a good deal or build, but a rare rock lobster cl find:
I keep seeing this thing every week and at this point I am barely able to resist. Something about it really speaks to me, it’s just the perfect DGAF townie getaround bike. Requires no dithering, park it outside in the weather and grab it without a care in the world. Lock it, don’t lock it, whatever. Not cosplaying like a beach cruiser, not even the cachet of being a Schwinn. I love it.
there was something similar built out of a decent unbadged old mtb frame I used to see around the neighborhood that I always thought was really cool.
I don’t think that is the frame I would do it with but for $50 plus the cost of a basket ???
Do it! It has the bonus of being a cheap klunker platform if you feel the urge to dither in the future
You can just drop it in the lawn when you get to your friends house
Yeah, buy that classic POS
It’s like the platonic ideal of the lock-up bike.
Spirit of Tarck compels you to bring this into our collective ownership
Looks like you could barspin it as well, worth it for that
Fenders and chainguard look ready for a couple cans of bright ass spray paint, looking forward to your assigned dithering!
this has braceline ca. 2010 all over it
Bikes like that are on chi cl right now for like $1900 dollars it’s ridiculous! All these geezers who haven’t ridden the fancy bikes they bought in 2002 since 2010 have finally decided to sell and they all think they’re sitting on a goldmine.
edit:
i used to set up those sabers in this bike shop i worked at in…2005. they sucked and we had a really hard time getting rid of the (last?) one, ended up selling on the sly online because back then it was super mega against the rules to do such a thing.
ti tri frame built around 650c, who would have thought
If they’re cleaning out their shit so their kids don’t have to then good on ‘em (not at those prices tho).
$400 new op style to DT 240 CL disc
Nice wheels.
I hope you took that jersey home
For Sale is an 1899 Columbia Chainless, $1800 obo. Feel free to make reasonable offers. You won’t hurt my feelings. It has just been serviced by a reputable chainless expert. The bike is a good rideable bicycle. The head badge is incorrect and is for a very rare 1902 Model 88 Columbia (the catalogues don’t even show a Model 88 produced until 1903). Not everything is correct to 1899.
For convenience, early on the bike was changed from fixed gear to a coaster brake and steel single tube rims. The wheels were just respoked. I put hand made tubulars on the bike instead of single tubes for better rideability. It is ready for a century ride today. I will consider trades on other early bicycles and will pay boot between this bike and something of interest. Nothing made after 1910. I am specifically looking for a 54-56 inch highwheel or eagle. I have some other rideable safeties to part with if interested in more info, let me know. The seller is not on Facebook so contact him directly at home; no texts. To 7 Six 7 Ate to 3 ate one 9. Thanks and God Bless
