yes, I had a bonfire. my first CX bike! harshest ride ever with an aluminum fork.
@Banjo @scott_dourque someone should flip this like it’s a fixer-upper midcentury ranch.
Wish I had the time to make the trip. Can you come get it from Oregon and drop it off on your way back?
What do paralegals do? Can’t you send one of them to pick it up?
lmao I was in lewisville two hours before this was posted, and now Im 4 hours away
Solid deal on a VO Rando with a rather solid build kit
I don’t think I’ve ever seen first gen deore stuff before. The downtube shifters are pretty sweet atmo.
I like to imagine the downtube shifters as little antlers to complete the theme
And dyna-drive cranks with what looks like adapters to use normal pedals!
I had a set of those. Sold them to some nerd.
Shimano Deer
For a word with so many uses, “darling” turns out to have a remarkably simple origin. “Darling” is simply derived from the Old English word “deor” or “deore,” meaning “beloved or dear.” (As you must suspect by now, that same “deor” also gave us our modern word “dear.”) The “ling” ending in this case means “one who is,” so “deorling” and today’s “darling” simply mean “one who is dear.”
Sakai where Shinano is based used to be part of Nara prefecture, which is probably most known for the deer park. I could see some unintentional word play happening.
Have we been pronouncing Deore wrong for decades? Is it supposed to be sound like “dear” or “deer”?
There’s an old promotional video on YouTube for LX (I think?) where it’s pronounced as “De-or-re”. I’ve always dropped the last part.
I just remember the bike is being pedalled by a ghost.
Fwiw, the reference is to deer
They really like their deer over there. Not the tick infested roadkill image we have.
