I think I’ve seen that bike on the back of a Land Rover. The person works at Nike or some place adjacent.
i met a dad/son combo at the nordic ski trails here in rochester ny last winter. my friend and i stopped near them to let the groomer get a head start so we weren’t breathing two-stroke exhaust. the dad was head to toe Bjorn Daehlie which is like the pre-walmart Rapha of skiing.
normal conversation of course leads to “where are you from” since they’re not local. he says “well portland oregon and minneapolis, but my inlaws live here and my daughter goes to college nearby” and he said what sport she played and i promptly forgot. i think lacrosse.
so my friend, who loves to know this shit, looks him up and discovers he’s the creative director of nike. naturally they probably have like half a dozen houses or something. he commutes from minneapolis to portland.
pretty good skier. very funny that he was wearing zero nike clothing on any part of his body visible to the outside.

TBH if the Brodie was a steel frame I would already have bought it. I believe it’s a year 2000, which is the penultimate year Paul was still involved with the company.
So those two are cool. But there’s also a Zaskar available which would fit me better than my previous Zaskar I had set up SS (which I sold). Do I want to build another SS Zaskar frame-up? Maybe.
my friend told me he reached out to the Hirschfield seller but the owner had apparently never heard of bike flights and quoted him like $200 for shipping lol
Where to? TBH the last couple of 23" MTB frame-only I’ve shipped have baaarely squeezed under the UPS size limit where shipping cost really jumps up. $200 for the whole bike might not be far off unfortunately.

same, ive shipped both a frameset and a set of wheels in the past several months and they were about $100 each, which is what i used to pay for a whole god damn bike.
shipped a tandem two years ago and it was $450 to ship.

It’s a real double edged sword for me as a buyer/seller. Silver lining is it keeps deals local…just gotta wait until sellers realize this and start to lower their pricing.
