I was gonna suggest a thermarest quilt except for the part where you don’t want one. Mine is tiny and feels super well made. Thermarest makes bags too, so check those out.
this is what prevented me from suggesting staying in a hotel
I haven’t slept in a tent in years. I am writing to you from a bed just outside a national park.
My bike is outside in the car and it has a frame bag.
Is this poopbarning?
Far be it for me to judge you on how you choose to define poop barning.
Well a friend is letting me borrow a very UL and small sleeping bag so I can defer this purchase for at least another year
I smashed the ultralight carbon poles of my Easton Kilo tent they made a long ass time ago as a technology demonstration. It’s sleevable if I remove the bungee line, but there’s probably more breaks in it
Zuck is target advertising just in time tho
how stupid is this and/or what is it knocking off?

Looks like it would not be fun for tall people. Like both your head and feet brushing the tent body.
Honestly everything about that Kickstarter screams “piece of shit” to me. Looks like a horrible design knocked off the Tarptent Moment DW. Buy one of those (or a Rainbow).
I was thinking tarp tent as well but the ones I’ve had do not set up fast.
awesome I knew there had to be a real one
So I am 6 days out from a 5 day ~350mile/35000’ trip.
I have some undiagnosed knee pain that has mostly subsided with some rest. I’ve built up what I consider a good base this summer. I’ve done rides that will mirror a typical day.
Can someone just tell me I’m not gonna tank my fitness by taking the rest of the week off from riding?
freshness > fitness
You won’t build fitness now, but you will build fatigue.
Rest but maybe do 1 very easy 30-45 minute ride 1-2 days out.
You’re touring, not racing, right?
It doesn’t matter what you do this week.
And if you were ultra-racing, the rest would probably be good for you.
I’ll be happy with a 10mph average honestly.
Thanks ya’ll.
Do lots of stretching, especially stuff connected to the knee. Hip flexibility, etc.
The only thing that will suffer is your brain. Maybe do some tiny rides to remind your legs how they work. Do you have options, should your knee flare up? Like flats or the pedals that are flat one side and cleats the other?
if you have all damn day to ride your bike, that’s still twice as fast as you need to average to cover that distance
I am having trouble getting into this mindset, but I desperately want to.
Work and home have been abnormally stressful and I’m trying not to bring the 1000 mile/minute pace with me. Hard, though. I hope I can get myself to stop and enjoy, or at least slow down.
