Crapbrapping or Pukebacking or Poopbarning

I have flats that I’m debating bringing, but my bags are already stuffed to the gills. The upside is that I’m never more than a 3 hours drive from home and sup to pull out the sag wagon.

“Taper”

It’s very much possible to read too much into the lines and stuff on intervals.icu and similar CTO graphing services. This is just bro science but imho when the cto line goes down, besides increasing freshness a lot of other not measured stuff stays up, if that makes any sense.

I just got home from bike camping along the Pine Creek trail in Northern PA, and my goofy homemade rack worked great. Was able to schlep one of those new style tiny camp chairs underneath the long carbon struts. Stuff sacks and dry bags and whatnot lashed to the top and sides.

That’s rad. I did a similar bodge with spare rack struts to keep my butt rocket from wagging.

Sup dudes. Recently became unemployed and coincidentally was between apartments so all of my crap is in storage. Considering I have no financial or other commitments, I am contemplating an extended poopbarn, but having trouble coming up with where to go. In KY atm, but have a car so I can make it anywhere. I also have like 170,000 airline miles, so I could maybe do an international trip (maybe cheaper in the long run?) Any suggestions or inspirations via trip reports or whatever welcome. Thanks.

My bike: sklar super something with 2.3in tires.

Paging @forr_loko so they can tell you to go to Costa Rica

How long of a trip are we talking?

Come to NZ. Your dollar’s probaly worth 1.4 of ours. Im doing this again. Actually I guess its a little way off.

Costa Rica is tiny and the riding conditions are pretty crazy - this time of year I’d go southern hemisphere, argentina or NZ or something

I went to a bikepacking talk last night where Rufus Wenlock was the guest. It was pretty cool. Hes been a bike-shop owner and mechanic for 20+ years and eventually sold his shop to do some serious bikepacking. He came 2nd in the British divide (I think) to his buddy Joe Nation in his first ever race, same again in the Tour Te Waipounamu, and third in the Silk Mountain race, to Joe again.

He has a wife and two kids. He told some funny stories but what I found the most interesting was his training. Doenst really do any specific hills, just rides on the flat. Never rides over 4 hours… but he rides back to back. So a 3-4 hour ride each day pretty much. Does about 20 + hours a week.

He learnt to weld by doing a 10 night welding course and went from there. He did some nerdy 3-d printing shit with his klite dynamo set-up that I never got to ask him about but I guess it was just having more options for switching charging without having to stop. He got seriously ill in the SMR due to the altitude he thinks. Was pretty scary, but he recovered the next day to make up all the places.

Yes, dopey shorty ITU styled aeros. Given his size he could do with longer extensions, something he said himself.

And something I kind of noticed last night. Shimano drivetrain with dominion brakes. Are they Hayes?

They Hayes

Hot bikepackign tip.

If you pack in a hurry and forget your sleeping clothes, you CAN take your long sleeved thermal top, and wear it as night-pants. The advantage is that your nether regions get to breathe with better air circulation.
