Looks like you need to rewatch PLP video where he drones on about the proper pronunciation of pannier.
I have a rogue panda bag for my Lynskey, and the buckles are far away from my knees. Depending on how I roll the top I have issue here;

Tightly rolled it seems canend up being bulky and pokes my knee chubs when pedaling. Still playing around with an easy fix, but a loose roll seems to help.
Other than that, bags solid and great. I enjoy not having a zipper there, my Tangle always is a rough go and doesn’t feel as if it will last.
Outer Shell had their roll much further down the bag, like 4-5 inches. That way it wouldn’t be as likely to rub.
Oh, I understood that part, I just thought he was talking about these pseudo panniers that the bikepackers like to use:
I don’t really get those. The width and inconvenience of panniers without the benefit of a proper panniers size.
I’d rather have a big ass traditional handlebar bag and ass rocket for grav riding.
I’m curious how much the jodphurs throw off handling compared to a buttrocket.

I bet my Tara and set of 30 year old lone peaks weigh a lot less than those.
With the Tara there is the issue of ground clearance. The last time I went dirt touring with full rando style panariums I had to rethink my lines so I wouldn’t snag them on the side of the road cut.
I’d like to see a custom rack that’s basically a Tara but mounts over the top and bottom everything warts instead of the lowrider and dropout bosses.
I know @orc will see this eventually, but a little nudge never hurts.
The people I’ve known that use those are pannier averse because that’s like a slow uncool bike rider thing and they are FAST BIKE RIDER PEOPLE AND NEED FAST BIKE RIDER THINGS.
The pannier snagging thing is a good point. But I’m super wary of these things because all I hear about is them cracking/breaking. They’d be a last resort for me after shoving every orifice of my frame with soft bags.
The Tara is that S-shaped rack, yes?

@orc by Tara I don’t mean the S-shape specifically, more the minimalism of it.
I guess it would just be a tube that goes from the lower boss up and over the tire to the other side, and a horizontal tube that attaches to the top boss. You don’t need any of the support that would normally go below the dropouts.
I feel like someone has already made something like this but I can’t remember who or where.
