If you have to get the sponsor name in there somewhere fine, but I agree.
Sun Prairie course is strange in that you can’t really tell what kind of day you’re going to have. Some courses you know you will always jive with, but SP is faithful to no one.
I miss Eastabrook. I’ve got the beer mug and everything.
Yeah, I knew they changed it, but for a while it sounded like it was gonna be the same. I understand the desire for “brand equity,” but sometimes it’s just confusing.
I dunno. Cross is a party and a good name can reflect that.
It really boils down to how much fun you want CX to be. This is controversial.
I’d sig that if I could.
This is weird, but is anybody wrenching this year and need a good apron?
I’m cleaning out stuff from my creamery operation and have some extra Uddertech aprons:

They’re XL (51" long) and made from modern outdoor fabrics. New in package. How about $10 with free shipping?
I’ll go for one–my Dairy Queen apron from way back in the day is pretty much done.
In for an apron for sure!
Cool, I didn’t post that I only have two. So they’re all spoken for. Gentlemen, please pm me your mailing addresses.
Got it-thanks.
Whoah, there’s a lot of apron here. Might have to hem it in a little.
Doubled up on a super fast course. The ss race started with a LeMans start, which was sort of neat. But someone pulled some alleycat bullshit and moved a few people’s bikes around. There’s a line between having fun and fucking up what someone just paid $35 dollars for (their race, not their bike)
Been thinking of buying a friend’s extra ss bike and raced it today. Hydros and tubeless fancyness. The bars are dumb flaired things with the hoods way to close together and the stem was too short. But it was so much better to ride than my bike. I had to remind myself not to grab a fist full of brake like I do with my bike every time I need to slow down. Going hard into turns and braking late was so much fun.
I didn’t have too much of an issue with that. Having us ride down the same hill we ran up was dumb though.
Have you been writing to the bike shop CX podcast? I think I heard your question on there?
MoVal CX. All dirt and some pavement. Corners were loose. If you miscalculated your turn, you’d loose traction reallllllly quickly. Fast straights, 2 sets of stairs, one set of barriers. Last year’s course included some grass, which was nice for at least some variance in terrain, but no go this year.
day1: lined up for the elites. Holy fast. Molly Cameron was there and I think everyone decided to try and beat her. I was doing ssA right after with no break, so I pulled myself 35min in. SS went alright, I was in a group of 3, with 3 ahead of us. I was slotted in a solid 5th when I hit something and both my feet came out of the pedals. Guy behind me passed and attacked and I couldn’t reel him in with the last half lap to go.
day2: I only did ssA, which was the last race of the day, which meant I drank too much beforehand. Either way, I got a good start and was making pretty good decisions when it came to my lines, although on one of the drop-ins I lost a bit of air from my front tire. about 3/4 the way through 2 to go, I hit one of the asphalt sections hard and completely burped my front tire. I ran it into the finish and called it. I was about to close on 4th, but that’s racing
Also ran into Travis! I called him out while he was wearing his camo tarck hat on the men’s c podium.
Was great meeting you! Also, those beer hand ups in the morning totally saved me. So funny to have someone just point and yell ShinyTravisto randomly.
Was a fun course, but super blown out and rutted. Got 3rd in the Men’s C and 1st in SS C!

I’m not aware of this podcast. Is there a doppel-fish out there?
We put on the second annual GP Jo Van Deraffe race this weekend and I raced poorly because I was running around helping to make the race work. I knew I was dehydrated and under fed, and I had only ridden half the course (and not the switchback part of it) but I tried my best anyway.
It kinda sucks because my teammate put together a great course that was made all the better with a light dusting of snow which turned it into an off-camber slip-n-slide. I would have liked to have spent more time on it.
My wife got video of me going down the switchback the first time and said “it was kind of embarassing.” By the 5th lap I found a pretty decent line, though I could still only stay on my bike for about 80% of it.
Now I gotta chop down 50 minutes of footage into 3.
Washington/PNW folks:
My wife and I are headed up to the Olympia area on December 1-2. We aren’t bringing bikes, but we are interested in racing in Lakewood on one of those days (Nats Practice #2 and State Champs).
Can we coordinate?
54" bike - Men’s Cat 3 - 35+
50" bike - Women’s Cat 4 - 35+
Here is a video recap from GP JO last week.
Now someone else post something, the forum is getting mad at me for posting too many times in a row.
Awesome. Yin’s put on a hell of a show laatste year, and that one looks even better.
Ailments, distraction and now old man back shit have kept me pretty much clean of the CX drug this year. I expect to be around for states next weekend, pretty much just to fill volunteer gaps and be fat.
also, if you dress like a giraffe to race, you bring the tall neck/head or don’t bother ATMO.
