who is going? i just signed up for the 115k and will be up there with a fair number of teammates and am hoping to see a fair number of y’all up there!

was tempted by the mystery route, but i ended up not going for it. there’s still nearly 8k’ in the 115k and it’ll be more social, which is one of the things i like about this ride.

will probably camp there friday and saturday.

I think I’m going for the mystery but haven’t signed up yet. I’ll be there unless work doesn’t allow me to be there, but I think it is early enough in August. Do nothing less than the 170! It is still mighty social and an easy ride because there are great rest stops, a lunch stop, and plenty of beer after. I made the mistake of carrying some of my own food to start and ended up leaving it at a stop because there was SO. MUCH. FOOD.

I’m in for 180km, camping 2x. Wear a TARCK caps!

Haven’t signed up yet, but eyeing the mystery route as well.

I’m doing the 100, because it’s all my cousin thinks he can handle, but still I’m SOST OKED.

Any independent burger/ice cream spots nearby?

^ not sure about that, but they pretty well handle all 3 meals for the day and they do a good job of it

Ain’t gonna be spots on the route since it is all dirt roads up in the middle of nowhere, but I bet Amherst has something. In fact I kind of remember getting ice cream in Amherst the day before last year.

Bingo. That’s what I’m looking for.

what is the dates?

August 20, Saturday.

I’m in and bringing a couple of local riders for their first. We haven’t confirmed which route, but debating the 160 and the 115.

ugh, feeling conflicted about route choice. on one hand i know the 115 is still a hefty day’s ride and that i’ve got teammates doing it i’d like to ride with.

otherwise i feel like i’m up for one of the longer routes and i actually don’t have to drive home to baltimore immediately after doing the ride this year.

anybody know if the promoters are chill about requests to swap? probably worth a shot.

not ice creams or burgers but go to the people’s pint tap and die in greenfield & thank me later.
tap and die is/was the name of a malt liquor they brew/brewed.

edit cos dumb.
edit2 looks like they have foods also.

I don’t think they would notice or care very much. They basically ask you to sign up for a specific route so they have a head count of how much food to provide.

Thanks, Biek!

good point! now i wonder if they’ll send out course info for the mystery ride beforehand so you can do gps navigation or not…

I changed my route last minute in '13, and they didn’t care. Though, my time tracking info showed up on the route I initially signed up for and didn’t ride.

I can probably make this and camp 2 nights. Only problem is I don’t have any fat tire bikes right now. Could do 27 pave tubs or 29 (actual) challenge clinchers on my road bike with a 39/28 low gear… will that be enough?

Yeah, you will survive. Just a few sections that it may be a little in the underbiking realm, but you don’t have to bomb the jeep road if you don’t want to.

Doable, but won’t be as fun. I rode 28s and 34/27 low. Couldn’t blast the downhills as hard and had to walk a couple of the ridiculously steep sections.
