You know I’m gonna rebuild this wheel set to make it dyno and tubeless.
You down with OPP!

best hybrid I’ve seen in a while
That bike just looks right with those wheels.
yeah the Look is kind of the modern version of our 2006-era tarck bikes
just functional enough
but still look cool
Hello folks, I’m logging the fuck on.
Thanks Dylan (whatever your name is here) for the shots and the delivery.
My Ibis Hakka MX built up with GRX. Ergon/Canyon Seatpost (with a shim in there) and a redshift bouncy stem. Not sure how well the seatpost works but the stem is fucking awesome. The Ibis is pretty nice but a lot of finishing touches leave me a little underwhelmed. Big things like hitting the 1000g mark for the frame with a T47 BB outweigh that though. Not a huge fan of the 430mm chainstays instead of 420, but I can’t say I can really tell a difference.
About to swap the GRX to Di2 and run 2x. Gotta say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well 1x has run. Silent and smooth and near flawless shifting. Wheel swaps have really been the main factor there, and in a sense I guess that’s almost easier to remedy with a cable than otherwise.
Can you tell me if you need to take out the BB to replace the shifter cables in cable-mode?
I can tell you you don’t on a Norco search XR.
That model doesnt make it to NZ, I do like it a lot tho… cept it has roadie only cable exit from the chain stay, would be very easy to bodge tho.
How terrible is pricing structure/tarrifs in NZ? I know a Norco dealer.
I know Nicola, the rep at Marleen, the wholesalers. Thats interesting, If I do a random search on Norco XR, it comes up, “Sorry, 2020 Search XR Carbon series is not available in New Zealand” but if I go to Marleen’s site, one comes up. 2018 model tho… https://www.marleen.co.nz/bikes/road/adventure/norco-search-xr-ultegra-2018.html I am honestly not looking for a bike, I was just interested to see if everyone else was doing the “remove the BB” to change a derailer cable BS, like on the OPEN. No prices listed on their site. A 105 Giant Revolt is $3600 in NZ… An OPEN UP frame only is $4900. Our dollar is 64 US cents.
Well… if you’re ever looking…
Sup.
Tell me more. Does your weight shift when braking compress the stem? What about standing climbing? What kind of surfaces does it seem to work best over?
It doesn’t really “dive” any more than an MTB tire might. It’s great for smaller potholes and washboard and the like, can definitely take stupider lines on fire roads without worrying.
I dont have room for another bike, but here we are. I found the frame on Craigslist for 40 bucks and really wanted an excuse to use these tires. Need to find a 160mm disc, cut the hose down, and get my cassette spacing situation together, and probably get a different fork since only the bottom half of the stem is on the tube
I am seeing a few of these being used in a poopbarn context, not heard any complaints yet.
Just torque the bottom bolt twice as tight as you normally would
