Dammit: Post your bike

My wife too has an amazing talent for collecting chain ring ‘tats’. Somehow once managed to get it on the inside of her NDS leg. It’s just become a running laughing point between us now.

Hey hey, I don’t walk on the NDS. I just move it ahead of me and lock it that way.

Sometimes a bunch of seemingly dumb decisions turns out to be something real great. Thanks again @jimmythefly for facilitating this frame.

Deets? Love the frame and fork. Looks like an 80s mountain bike but it has nipples on the fork.

Best I can tell from looking at old catalogs it’s a '84 Specialized Stumpjumper Sport that had a bunch of warts added and sparkly brown powder coat applied before I got it. IIRC, Jimmy found this and a bunch of other bike stuff that was being sold by a shop in Bend that was moving early in the pandemic era. I recall him helping someone else here buy another deadender frame as well.

Very slack, high BB, 124mm rear spacing, 28 lbs without the bar purse, v fun so far even though I’m going to have to walk up a steep hill going home tonight.

I wanted to call it a stumpjumper. The fork looks right. That’s a sweet bike. Enjoy it.

I didn’t have to walk the hill, but if it was any longer it would have won.

I have an orange american apparel speedo that somehow got chainring tattoos across the ass and somehow still has them permanently many years later

That bike looks super fun, and I want that bar tape.

It really is a strange, nice-riding machine. The tape is this stuff

I was looking at the pastel stuff

How is the bar tape? Could you compare it to anything else? Reminds me of lizard skins by the look of the texture?

welp.

bikes with all the guides on the right side of the downtube were not meant for v-brakes. so for now i have what might be the most powerful v-brake ive ever used in the front and a completely ornamental canti with rotting pads in the rear. its fine.

also the bars are 860mm which is far too wide.

Daisy chain 3 brake noodles to go around the seat cluster

Ironically some litespeed dorks specifically get motolites to use v-brakes on the rear – supposedly you can switch the sides on those motolites around so that the cable routes to the right side
