Dammit: Post your bike

I did 20’ of elevation change on my ~23 miles. time to hack the braze-ons off

That 20’ was probably the bridge where you took the pic! Bike looks great, we should do the Mack’s Riv ride on our non-riv fop chariots.

GF’s sister wanted to do an organized ride for her birthday, so I pulled this out of the shed for the first time in over a decade. Replaced a tube, changed brake pads, lubed the rusty chain, wiped off all the cobwebs and dirt, and it was good to go for a triple Tarck century with lots of cobblestone sections and a bit of rain. I’d forgotten how much I like riding it.

That’s awesome. Do you know what year it’s from?

The frame is from around 1950. Probably a Torpado (TCxxxx serial number). I got it without a fork so I got that one from a late 60s Geoffrey Butler.

It’s an amazing bike in every way, but those tires make my teeth itch

has the rubber not perished?

The tires? Nah, the Jack Browns were as supple as ever. I was kinda shocked myself. The photo was after the ride, so the tires were covered in mud.

Or, maybe they’re just about to assplode and I got lucky.

Really the only bike I’m riding right now, it’s just fun, and sprightly enough for 20 miles when needed.

I feel the same way about my Bullitt. It’s the bike I grab 99% of the time.
What is that saddle?

origin8 classic leather saddle, which seem to have doubled in price since I last got one pre pandemic.

My one is ‘91. Paint is in good condition, no rust, but the decals are in rough shape.

I put all the stuff from my Fuji Opus III that fit 25 front 28 rear on it, and got some Cava 33s and went with some clownpuke bartape Igor sold me to get free shipping one time. I think maybe I should finish off the tape with some shellacked twine? I’ve got some black fenders that would look good, but honestly this is not the bike I’m reaching for when it’s wet out.

TC: I have contemplated just cutting off the canti bosses and putting VO calipers on.

Yeah, but it’s the one where he plays Brendan Frasier in a remake of the Mummy.
