The decision to do this and not just come up with a mod for GX 2x11 to work with road shifters is pretty dumb. Geeks who are willing to bodge together groups probably want a clutch.

We’re trying to AVOID proprietary cassette interface and chainrings, not make our old shifty bits require them!

yeah i feel like a lot of ratio stuff is great but just shy of the mark that i want to hit.

speaking of being shy of marks i want to hit- are there any 5b spiders that fit axs cranks? i need wide cranks for one of my bikes due to clearance and yeah grx probably solves it too (and gets 48/31 which is kinda perfect) but folx want options

Mtb is still all 3 bolt.

Except Quarq road and mtb is the new interface.

That’s a good point, it still doesn’t build a 2x clutch dangler, which is only done by GRX still.

Can you remove the cable routing doofer off the back of the GX 2x11, cos if you could, they could 3-d print one in the same way that they did for the MTB dangler to 12 speed road shifter mod.

Actually, the GX 2x11 has the same pull as the MTB 1x eh ? I will suggest it to them.

I am really happy with my tail hook Lengther that gets me into a 42! but I do suffer a bit of slap-ways at times.

I suggested it twice. Both times “1X is the answer for drop bar dirt bikes”. MFer no it’s not.

Suggested to Sram or Ratio ? Ratio have always been pleasant when I’ve suggested things. Hah. Checked my DMs, mentioned it to them, your solution, in Jan 2021, and they mentioned that they were working on an AXS solution.

Mentioned it to Ratio. Even got in to details about the specifics of the GX 2x11 and why it would be the ideal candidate and required minimal fuckery. :man_shrugging:

I would be in the market for such a thing.

I run 1x but appreciate being able to switch to 2x without changing the dangler. GX 2x10 works with 11 and has a clutch but max cassette is 36, which would be okay if I had my bike 2x all the time but with 1x a 40 or 42 big cog would be nice…

Can we use the power of our team of experts to just do this for ourselves?

I’d recommend it. but doesn’t shiftmate 9 already do that? gx 2x11 dangler is rated to 42t and it seems that it does exact actuation shifter to x-actuation dangler

I guess, I feel like those are kludgy though…

Yeah it’s weird isn’t it. Where do you draw the kludge-line. I use a tail-hook-lengthener, so not there! That derailleur won’t work for me anyway cos my bike has a non-compatible cable exit position. If you are not stymied by this affliction, you can actually use the clutched old-school 10-speed XO dangler. I think a 40 is max you can actually do in those. It would be hard to find but would work up to 12 speed in theory.

I need to do a bunch of research on what’s available and what needs to be built to keep current generation mechanical hydro disc groups running forever.
There are only a couple generations of these, and while I can packrat a bunch once the new DA/Ultegra really hits the market, it would be good to know what the rest of the landscape looks like

yeah likewise i am concerned about the shrinking pool of things to keep my sram 2x clutched ecosystem steady. i just like sram road shifters so much more than shimano at this point and i don’t want 1x on my curlybar bikes (though it would greatly simplify a lot of my current dithering)

Definitely let us know what you figure out. In 5 years I don’t want to be sitting at my computer trying to decide between bidding $500 for a NIB right Ultegra shake or spending $1500 to upgrade to wireless Ultegra.
