DEALS DEALS DEALS

I’ll second that if you’re looking for stiffness and a stable platform, Vaypor S is great. Decent width toe box plus you can heat mold the sole which can really help out with hot spots, and they offer semi or full custom versions for those that need more than that, though those get spendy. They do also have a two bolt dirt-specific version (Vaypor G) but I was never fully convinced that that level of stiffness would be great for a shoe I’d have to do any serious walking/running in.

Biggest downside is that in the rain the bathtub acts like a bathtub (shockedpikachu.jpg)

Mine just arrived, will see how they compare to the S with road cleats

This is my problem with literally every shoe ever made by adidas. I was so bummed when they ruined 5.10 by lasting all the shoes on lasts made for 130lbs euro soccer players.
I can’t even cram my feet into their climbing shoes anymore (not that I can climb anymore)

If this is a problem, Bont is the solution. The Riot+ is like $150 on mild sale, and you can mold the already wide shape of the shoe to fit. You do have to pop it in the oven, which seems kinda yikes, but it works.

also they provide an accurate sizing chart/template thing you can print out before ordering their shoes

who makes this shoe???

obviously looks like it’s made by 301 Riot Boa, my favorite brand

That Bont shoe absolutely does not solve my problem of wanting a sneaker that is comfortable on and off the bike.

Doh!

My low top Specialized 2FO’s are great, but my MTB tires neatly deposit so many pebbles into them that I could be down for Cuff Lyfe.

Ruckus is having their warehouse sale on May 4 from 4-8p, if anyone is looking for a heavily discounted plastic frame.

I would go, but I’m going to be out of town.

They aren’t flexy, feels budget level road shoes or fancy xc racer shoes. On the stiff end for hike a bikes.

that is at 100% not what I needed you to say.

My experience with flimsy shoes were the cheaper giro lace ups may be five or so years ago. Terrible shoes.

The lacing is on trend but doesn’t really snug down as effectively as, well, every other system.

i will say my lace up spesh recons are great if you nail the lace tension on both feet. but there’s no on-bike adjustment and if you adjust one you for sure need to re-tie the other one. but they look really classy! if my feet didn’t slightly swell in my process of becoming completely un-fit i would want to keep them.

that said, anyone want a good deal on some lightly worn black w/ gum sole recons in a 42? they’re plenty stiff!

Frankenbells. Not sure how much of a limited time offer this is or if it’s become a semi-permanent feature of their shop?

it seems like they do this at least once a year. as a result i’ve never paid full price for one.

also fwiw i’ve never been able to tell why the bells bought at these sales were rejected by QC and ended up in a scratch&dent sale

All my bells are frankenbells. Only one out of five is visibly franken in any way. Looks like the ano or whatever on the dinger lever didn’t stick.
