wow when was the last time you saw a sale that big on a bike? 2019?

The inventory situation in the bike industry is absolutely insane right now. It’s gonna kill some brands and make it really hard to survive for others.

Rumor mill has it that the big S has like 2-3 years worth of inventory at the moment

that’s about what state is asking for their aluminum axs bike

Ah so this is why they made the Tarmac SL8 look terrible: they need to move SL7 inventory!

I am really fighting to not buy one of the closeout Surlys right now

This is one of the nice things about paying the dynamo tax. Really keeps me from buying a bunch of stupid bikes knowing I’m going to have to buy a new wheel every time

Anyone have a source for cheap Specialized Purist bottles?

Another tarck group buy?

Everyone’s favorite backwards pedal is back and hella cheap

If they come with cleats ( the ones I bought last time did), they’re worth it for that alone. I’ve used them quite a bit and while they are a bit more finicky to clip into relative to ATACs, they’re perfectly cromulent otherwise.

I did do the spindle swap to make them a little bit less awkward.

FUCK

Oooh, is it worth making a bet with myself that I’ll be doing randonerdery in my 90s?

oh my word. if i was ever able to clip into them i would buy a bunch. i never got around to swapping pedal bodies but they were flat out (seemingly, could be problem between pedal and handlebars but it was at my peak mechanic years) incompatible with whatever shoes i had. i just could NOT clip in

Swapping the pedal bodies makes most of the difference in the world. They still suffer from wanting to be eggbeaters, but at least the flipped pedals let me actually clip into them.

There were these extra things to make them easier to clip into:

Should be able to reverse engineer and 3dp

i sold mine to a coworker at cost after getting them from our venerable fax machine. someone here just sent me a grip of like new time pedals and i don’t hardly ride bikes so i’m in a similar spot as you

i’ll (eventually) print some for whoever wants

edit: if someone can do the cad

With me it’s more like that Atac pedals just don’t die. I don’t think I’ll ever get more than 16000km/year ever again, and even at that rate of riding it’s still 3 years to wear them out. (I wear out the used ones I get from ebay faster, but that’s still >= 10000km.)

i remember having a conversation with my old boss about atacs and he complained so much about them wearing out. i said you know what else wears out? cassettes but i’m gonna keep buying them because they work great for me
