if there’s anyone in/near MSP I have a Cleary 16" that could go to a good home for very few dollars, we upgraded to the 20" 3-speed already.
They do use regular parts. We love our 12” and have a 16” waiting in the wings. It’s a shame they’re closing, they’re great little bikes.
If your kiddo is average height… Don’t get a 12 inch pedal just toss them on a 14 inch one. The 12 inch worked for our guy who was super little… But the pedaling is very awkward and they stand over height is not much lower than the 14.
How do these compare to the woomers
I like the idea of my kid having a stable of bikes before he can crawl
Got my order from The Pro’s Closet, great transaction would definitely do it again
i will probably have a belsize 16” to sell by the time you need it. it is a small bike made with real bike parts and as such is pretty light. real parts, hand brake, belt drive, already has some purple parts on it because this is tarck
It’s back in stock.
I was looking at that 26" for my oldest but they don’t have any geometry specs listed and just size them by inseam which makes it look smaller than my kids current woom 24", weird.
I like the Wooms a lot better. Way lighter and simpler.
Cleary that son’s friend has is real nice but just too much bike for a six year old - sus fork, disc brakes…
The 26 Cleary my daughter test rode was also really nice - belt drive, discs…but just seems unnecessary to me for a kids bike. The Woom 26 was nice and light and basic, V-brakes, just good essential bike.
Disk brakes on a kids bike seem like a bad call. The rotors are sharp and delicate. Either the kid’s gonna cut themselves on it or smash it into a fire hydrant.
I can see the arguments both ways.
IME v-brakes with this kind of adjuster screw sticking out sideways are absolutely likely to catch clothing or puncture skin if fallen upon.
Most of the discs I have are chamfered and not terribly sharp edged. And they keep the area around the fork crown/stays totally clear so leaves and stuff doesn’t get jammed as easily. No danger of mis-adjusted brakes wearing through a tire.
I will say that the v-braked kids bikes I’ve worked with stopped great and were lighter and for those reasons + being cheaper used I’ll probably seek one out for kiddo’s next if I have a choice.
I just want my kids to be able to do sick skids.
Vees work fine but discs should make it easier.
Kids can modulate vs better.
I hate setting Vs up though.

You all sure like to overthink things.
My kid rides whatever beat-up brand name bike I find on CL for $50. Then he beats it up more, outgrows it, and I sell it on CL for $50
Well my niece has a Cannondale little lefty sitting in her garage probably unused that her uncle is damn proud of.
The only new bikes i got as a kid were dept store bikes. My kids will be getting used bikes indefinitely unless i literally can’t find anything good or they are competitive in the sport
I got 2 new bikes as a kid ever.

Huffy 10 speed drop bar bike I won in a drawing from the back of a cereal box, it was comically too large for me and also just a pile of hi-ten steel crap, but I was so proud to have won it.

1991 GT Vertigo, white with black splatter. For which I mowed a ton of lawns and snow shoveled numerous sidewalks and porches to save up for. $249.99, as I recall.
All other bikes were assembled by my dad from random parts, excepting the time I got a garage-saled Huffy Pro Thunder which was my first bike with hand brakes and wow was that a learning curve with some wrecks along the way.

I got a SON hub I needed shipped from the UK next day for about half off usual US price.
