crit machine
Wow an ancient relic of the late rim brake period of cycling
late critaceous if you will
Are you trying to sweep the 2025 tarcklebees?
Saw that on other forum yesterday and did a cursory search for the deal but quickly came to my senses. My brain yelling to other part of my brain: âstop resisting!!â
with the direct mount brakes!
those things are so fucking good
Pretty good deal if you have a $5000 parts bin
yeah but itâs a trek
All the better if it annoys people? At least you know itâs a quality product. I wonder if the company would stand behind the lifetime warranty if purchased through this vendor.
I donât know why they wouldnât. Wheel and Sprocket is a big Trek dealer with like a dozen locations around Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
ATMO a lot of dollars for a deadender with a crummy bottom bracket standard and a lot of moving parts at the headset and seat post junction.
Ok the deadender is part of the point as disc brakes do not belong on road bikes but whatâs up with the BB and the junctions? Is the isospeed thing some sort of elastomer system? BB is press fit of some kind? Those were all bad?
BB90 is a contender for the worst of all the press fit standards.
IIRC The isospeed thing at the headset is a separate set of bearings/bushings that allow the top bearing to pivot fore-aft. The seat post junction is similar but may also have an elastomer involved?
Anyway all that stuff may be kinda neat/fun to try out, but itâs almost a bong after you pay tax/shipping
Sounds horrible. Lifetime warranty though!
in an industry with regular âcrimes against natureâ here, Iâm not sure if BB90 even makes the second page of the retrospective âworst of all BB standardsâ listicle
BB90 doesnât allow for 30mm spindles, and doesnât allow for delrin âcupsâ around common industrial 6805 bearings
Are those pros or cons? Someone just find me a Look 585/595 Time VX-whatever in 58-59-60? ![]()
big cons
