ReRack is selling bike parts now?!

They have for a while, but seems to phasing them out. The Bontrager flat pedals they carry are an absolute steal.

Thank you, was just wondering if I should replace my SPD pedals because they are noisy and this is less than I just spent on the new cleats that didn’t fix the problem

I have a pair of these and they work well.

Interesting choice for a barbell company

Yeah, that’s really weird.
Also, the fork looks like it relies on a fiddly little tab thing to prevent wheel ejection. Seems like a bad design.

Eh, that’s been around for eons as an alternative to lawyer lips and works fine especially for bolt-on wheels :atmo:

Sure, it’s just an annoying thing that I’m used to seeing on old Schwinns, not new musa bikes.

Fair. I guess they really wanted to use that thick plate dropout that’s bent to meet up with the fork leg that way. Easy to do with a nice thick laser cut part. But adding lawyer lips would complicate the design and if you need a washer under the axle nut anyways, why not make it dual-duty?

grandpa got called to testify by people suing schwinn in the 70’s because he designed a retention device that they chose not to use.

“Stanley Jameson, a former Schwinn employee, testified that in 1972he designed a “c-clip” attachment for the front fork of Schwinn bicycles at the request of his boss, Frank Brilando, in order to prevent wheel disengagement. The design was incorporated into a patent application filed in December 1972.On April 30, 1974, a patent was issued for the design.Jameson testified that he tested the design and was satisfied that it prevented wheel disengagement.Schwinn, however, never used the c-clip design.A 1985 Raleigh bicycle admitted into evidence incorporates the c-clip design.”

Re: 28hole wheels

I bought a nice set of DT Swiss guys laced to 350s that are 28h… been on them like a year now. They are rock solid, feel great, no complaints (140lb rider tho)

Looking for a deal on 48 spoke wheels

TC i have never put a wheel out of true that wasn’t messed up to begin with. i’ve cracked or dented a few rims but that has nothing to do with spoke count.

mass-market musa bikes from the last few decades are “new old schwinns”

on a spectrum from https://www.worksmancycles.com/ to https://detroitbikes.com/
