DEALS DEALS DEALS

fwiw, I currently weight 213 pounds & I ride regularly on 28s.

(also fwiw, I built the wheels.)

(… and the bicycle frame.)

(… and the front rack & bag.)

(… didn’t build any of the other parts, though, unless you count mending a pair of dura ache brifters)

So after consulting the Bible: I wonder whether wider rims (and carbon rims, though I think we can generally agree on this already) allow for less spokes.

Just get 2 pairs of the 24s and smang them together

My wife just pointed out that Specialized is blowing out all their remaining inventory from Machines For Freedom on ebay after they bought the brand and shut it down. And she is disappointed that Tarck did not inform her of this sooner. Prices are >80% off.

Just blatantly reposting from MTBR, but still: $199 12s Deore drivetrain with crank and SLX cassette.

$200 12s drivetrain kinda makes me want to build a whole other bike

Chainline?

also known as doing the lords work

I guess to use this I’m also going to need

SHIMANO’s new MICRO SPLINE freehub body

so I instead of a novatec freehub body I should buy these carbon singlewall wheels, right?

am i right to understand that we are now making wheels purposefully floppy cuz reasons?

reasons including

to stay parallel to the ground for smoother turns

my buddy enjoyed them on his hardtail

wheels can be supple too !!!

at least it has 32 spokes !!!

I don’t think the zipp hubs will ever allow you to have a microspline driver.
And, damn, I would have thought these would be lighter overall.

I think it does with

11.2028.061.006 HUB FREEHUB KIT - ZM2SL ZR1 FOR SHIMANO MICROSPLINE

Oh, nice. I swear I looked for that a few years ago and couldn’t find anything. I really thought they were going to be that big of dicks about the competitor’s freehub standard.

Yes

Microspline though, I’d need a new free hub body

I bit the microspline bullet a few years ago. Should probably buy this just to hoard for the next bike.
