Originally they were exactly the same but with a huge markup
Now they’re a bit nicer with some added features, and the prices have converged to be worth not getting a plain one in most cases
I am the first to shit on a white guy rebrand operation, but he won me over with his nice grip design, and his PNW dropper lever is also really excellent if you’re using SRAM shifting
The PNWs I have are much nicer than the TransX I had which felt like junk in the hand and had the cable clamp at the saddle instead of the collar which was really annoying because when the saddle was dropped, it made a loop of cable that would catch on stuff and otherwise be in the way.
Also, the transX just stopped working one day, so there’s that.
So this is an externally routed post? External routing for something that moves that far is just generally annoying. Did you see if you could fill it back up with air? Lots of droppers take a shock pump and need periodic refills.
why would it be there business to tell you every tiny difference? both brands send a design to the mfg and the mfg makes them. it’s not their job to tell you what tranz-x specs differently.
I had a One Up that needed to be pumped occasionally and you had to remove the saddle to do it. THAT was annoying.
But no both the transX and the PNWs are sealed cartridges like an office chair.
It’d be OK for them to say, sorry, I don’t have that info at hand, you’ll have to discover that on your own. Blocking someone for asking a reasonable question? Fuck them.
The fancier steel ones were nice, but the geo was weird. Might want to validate whatever you find with the fork in question to get the desired trail. Also, validate the stack and reach. Short headtubes were common.
And you continued to persist to the point of being annoying? ‘Kept asking’ makes it seem that way. Not sure a company has any responsibility to suffering trolls, or even people with some interest who continue to pester.
Lol I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks that way about older steel bikes, especially ones that look like they’ve been ridden a bunch. Good to know though.
Thankfully a headtube can only be so short on a level TT frame. Biggest thing I’ve run in to is people mis-identifying frames as sizes they aren’t. My eye is pretty calibrated for 80s Schwinns since I’ve had so many of them but these are throwing me off a bit visually.
