Thats such a huge bummer. Gonna use this as an excuse to go to the fancy shop and test ride some bikes. Haven’t really budgeted for anything new but I could figure something out
The travel is a preset amount. So you choose the dropper travel that you can fit with your seat height then you set the seat height like any other post by inserting it while the post is extended and measuring your BB to saddle. You’ll end up with more or less showing below the dropper collar.
Most trail riders aim to buy the post with the most drop that still fits at their seat height, vs xc riders that might do a 90 or 100 mm post.
Definitely could use a popper to keep my keister moving

I don’t remember the brand or if it’s even in production still but I remember an xc themed post that had like 2 or 3 positions.
Maybe a fox on a Scott? Some OEM only thing like their stupid shocks and forks?
I remember several three-position posts early on - i.e. ‘up, 30mm down, all the way down’. IIRC Specialized did one. They didn’t really catch on.
Specialized oem posts definitely had the notches.
I need 260mm and 259mm spokes for this wheel I’m building. It would be foolish to try and use these spokes I found in the hoard, right?
Can you also find spoke washers in the hoard?
does anyone have tips on getting this compression plug out? I threaded a bolt in and hammered on it but the whole thing is just moving deeper in the steerer. No access from the bottom of the steerer
edit: maybe i can use a top cap+bolt to bring it up
Yea you’re going to have to pull, not push.
Do you have something you can hook onto it with? Like an old spoke or something?
If it gets too annoying just leave it in there and install a new one
well i got it to the top of the steerer but apparently there’s a ridge on the inside cuz it’s not coming out and this used to be convex lol
edit: it’s out. that was easy
No.
Yes.
Now I’m torn.
The price is absolutely ridiculous. If you can spare it though it sounds fun. That’s all.
you would find a way to tear these spokes
Well they’d be going on my bakfiets with a carbon hoop so I’d be expecting everything to break.
Instead I think I’ll just get DT Comps like usual. Also an alloy rim.
Anyone have any experience with the Ryde Andra 40 rim?
