Did you just ShartQ?

I bought and used some of that 2760 when I was rebuilding my coil. It is going to come apart just fine.

That’s fantastic, thanks!

Back in 2012, I rescued a C’dale Super Six Evo frame with a broken dropout from the dumpster where the shop had definitely thrown it and disposed of it and there was nothing at all improper about it. It was a 48cm frame (my size) and I figured I could have Calfee or Predator or Appleman or whoever repair it and then I would have a sweet road bike.

A series of life events (namely, moving to LA for a year) meant that the bike went into storage in 2013 and has been in a frame box ever since.

SQ should I repair it and build it up? Is that even worth it for a 12 year old rim brake BB30 bike? I remember really enjoying the way those bikes rode back then, but I am not sure if it is worth pursuing a fast rim brake bike now?

If I don’t do this, would anybody else be interested in this frame?

How borked is the dropout? Can you make a coaster brake or SS or fixie from it? (maybe 650b?)

I am trying to remember, but I think it is the NDS dropout that is broken literally at the dropout itself. That’s why I felt like it was super repairable. As far as I can tell, the tubes are all still totally fine.

Most of those frames had terrible tire clearances. Some could barely contain a 25. I think that would be my first concern.

I bought a repared '12 or '13 SuperSix Evo from Ruckus Composites a while back. I think it was a dangler hanger repair. They did a really good job with the paint.

The BB30a was a pain to deal with. Also the head tube was a weird kind of taper. I’m not sure I would choose to build one up again.

Edit: found a photo I kept

Yeah, I’ve got the matching fork, so I’m not too concerned about the headtube as long as I can get headset bearings for it. BB30 is kind of the real hangup. I am remembering now how much I hated dealing with that shit.

The more I think about this, though, the more I am realizing that I would probably rather put the repair money towards a more modern road frame or a cooler old frame that will be a pain in the ass in more fun ways.

Something that will be fun to put my TB14/Ultegra 6500 wheels onto.

I’m after a 30t SRAM direct mount chainring for some GX cranks going on a DJ (135 rear). I would want a 0mm offset chainring right?

Who aside from WoofToof is making aftermarket stuff for that mount?

Lots of Chinese alibaba sellers

You probably want a 6 mm offset for that chain line. 0 mm is for super boost.

My Oiz is a 6 mm offset, so I was making the same search. Blackspire has a chainring that can be flipped to have a 6 mm or 3 mm offset. The only problem is their website is offline until the new year.

Is it on an HG freehub? You can probably use a 3mm and just space out the cog to get the best chainline. Can’t remember what my xt cranks are, but since they are 175, probably non boost or something thus why i held onto them for so long. maybe a bit long for dj, but they are pretty and were free.*

*bought some xt groupset from euroland forever ago and that’s all i have used from it so far. Maybe the 11-42 goes on H/G if I ever do the sick hybrid conversion.

Oh shit, I had it backwards in my head for some reason.

6mm offset!

Yeah, but I want to avoid seatstay interference; I’m already increasing the front from a measly 25 to a better 30 or 32 depending on what clears the chainstay

My 135 rear DJ fits a 30t boost crankset just fine? Ymmv
Haven’t tried anything better. Just have nx boost cranks i got for free.

It’s an hg rear hub so i used spacers to set the chain line.

My front rack’s platform is about the same size as a Wald 137 basket. Any reason not to attach a basket bag directly to the rack (assuming some padding between the rack/bag)?

I’ve got both a wald 137 and a bike with a demi-porter rack. I prefer the direct attach rack bags. Been using the ILE rack bag but just got an Outershell rack bag that I haven’t had a chance to use yet.

I can recommend the RAL tote bag for that. It has four velcro fasteners around the bottom edge that hook directly to a rack or bottom edge of a Wald 137-sized basket. It’s fairly structured, so it’d be fine on racks with enough cross members, and combine it with a Voile or bungee or two across the top for bigger loads, and as long as you’re not trying to do trials, it’s gold.

I have more questions for my Homercar.

Side-swing front derailleurs are definitely not compatible with Shimano road double shifters, right? Has anyone actually tested it?

I have a very cheap Ltwoo double FD a while ago and it shifts ok for a 47mm chainline. Trying to drop-in something nicer, would R7000 FD make this shift? Or maybe GRX?

This is a 42/26 MTB double on dropbars.

What is the Shimano syringe I need for brake bleeds

Imo, igetting a universal kit that comes with adapters for most systems is a good way to dodge this question.

They’re also cheaper and have better quality syringes as well.

I’m very happy with the ‘ezmtb’ branded one I have.
