I have an 11s Sunrace cassette on my noodle road bike and it doesn’t seem to shift as well as the sram cassette that it replaced.
Shimano kinda got that too: CS-HG500 10s 11-42
I’ve been drinking the Sunrace aid
I’m in Australia right now. Wtf you can ride on the highways in some states?
You can but it’s pretty shitty
You can do that here too. Like, on freeway in parts of Washington.
you can on most freeways. it’s only explicitly banned in certain corridors, like through major cities or tunnels and such…
Yeah, in new south wales you can ride anywhere unless there’s a sign saying otherwise, which is probably only a few km of freeway.
Where in Australia are you?
I’m putting together a stupid parts bin bike that I probably shouldn’t waste my time on. I’m stuck with a sticky set of chainring bolts that won’t tighten before the nuts start spinning. I’ve long ago lost that awesome little stamped steel Shimano tool, so what can I use in a pinch to get me going? I tried filing down the edge of a dime but it just twists.
Small needlenose pliers?
I’ve used a pair of junk scissors, mashing my thumb down really hard on the nuts, the edge of a piece of strap steel, a large screwdriver, and suitably large washers.
These work about 3/4ths of the time; the other 4th I have to go and scrounge through my bike mess until I find an actual weird chainring bolt tool.
really small allen wrench on one of the notches has worked for me to get them to bite and then you can hork them down
Why do traditional chainring bolts suck so hard.
I’ve been looking for that var tool hank and frank had that was like a c-clamp with the slot on one side and the allen on the screw side that had a spring hold it all together. It sparked much joy, I should’ve lifted it
I just want one of those stamped steel Shimano tools
Or some proper chainring bolts that fit the tools you already have.
are you positive that they aren’t too long? some chainring/crank combos are thinner than others. might you be bottoming out the nut?
Post can’t be empty
Yep, put some washers in there and they keep spinning. Going to clean up the threads on both halves and try again.
