Did you just ShartQ?

I’m very pro sealant in tubes. Amazon used to have gallon bottles of the older non-latex Finish Line stuff but it looks like they’re all gone.

@karl_dandleton posted this which might be worth looking into

is your gallon jug of OG FL finished up yet?

Not yet, there might be another 40% left and I’ve been harvesting it from tubes of other bikes that are going in the sale sometime before I die pile. A 20x4" tube holds a lot of sealant!

wow, harvesting sealant from tubes is next level! i commend your commitment

It’s a belt suspenders integration

Interesting, looks like flatout recommends a small tire formula for tire width ≤3.5in, with the off road formula for ≥3.5in. Do people have good luck using it on smaller tires?

Shartq: I’ve got 6-bolt on my MTB and every time I’ve removed and replaced the rotor it rubs. what am I doing wrong? mostly I just bolt the fucker down in an x pattern and curse the fact that the bolts don’t auto-center on the holes. it didn’t rub before I removed and replaced the rotor. I’ve checked it’s right side out and oriented in the right direction and it only rubs at certain points in the rotation.

up and down? add a couple washers to the caliper?

probably just minute differences that cant be helped. not unusual to have to readjust the caliper when replacing a rotor.

Try marking the rotors for both wheel location and position on the hubs once they’re true (enough)? Then at least you know that the rotor is going back on the same wheel and the same position relative to the hub.

yeah I should have done that.

A friend is looking for a bike rec and I realize I can’t give recs anymore as I’m too tarck-pilled and increasingly drawn toward minivelos.

Anyone have a clue about budget all-purpose fun bikes these days? Official use case is commuting to/from the metro station but CA fire road exploring will also be on the menu. I’m thinking $1500 or less.

Maybe Marin Larkspur or Surly Grappler? Hudski Doggler is OOS right now. The genre seems to be hybrid with off road characteristics? Any obvious brands I’m missing?

Maybe Primos?

don’t we always end up recommending a Marin?

you all always end up recommending a kona

will believe that when someone actually posts a proof of life picture that they bought one

Didn’t Kona go bankrupt a little while back? Not sure how good their lineup is now

oh their outlet options look nice. The Dame looks heavy though, and it is at 27lbs. (edit–guess it’s not as heavy as a Jones)

Also gotta figure out drop bar vs flat bars for this application

Yeah that’ll happen

I’ve got a buddy who has a Dame! Not sure his opinions on it but it looks cool, especially for <$1000 complete.

@stumphumper if you or your friend have any specific questions about it, I can ask
