Did you just ShartQ?

The rear brake on my bike is dragging all the way around the rotor like the pistons aren’t returning all the way and the lever feels kinda stiff. Think a quick bleed will do the trick? How do I clean the piston/ caliper interface? I’m sure it’s all full of crud.

Remove pads. Spray with isopropyl alcohol. maybe use q-tip or other device to wipe away dirt and grime around the pistons.

Assuming shimano/mineral oil, attach funnel to lever with small amount of fluid in there. Use tire lever to gently push cleaned pistons back into the caliper. Then you can try a bleed. If you feel like trying to pump lever to work pistons out a bit then push them back again, you can do that. Just make sure you keep an eye in case one is pretty frozen and the other just wants to move out.

I don’t think that is the case

Worked for me

maybe it was the permissions on top of them hating the adblock software.

I must have disabled it on chrome, because i immediately saw crusty’s dominion propaganda.

SQ got my new cheapo QR wheels from Tr*k. They have cup and cone bearings and they feel a little tighter that I would have expected (a lil notchy). It looks like they greased them tho. I did a google search and I saw some folks say the bearings and dust seals need to wear in a bit but I guess I am skeptical. Can anybody tell me what’s up here and if I need to adjust the bearings myself?

I’d adjust yourself. Especially because c&c bearing’d Q/R wheels tend to get tighter after they are clamped in the dropouts. Always takes me a couple of tries.

Thinking about it more, I wonder if they are getting more squashed not-quite-parallel rather than just tighter?

Oh yeah, I think they do make you disable adblock

what is wrong with this wound up fork? can’t put a brake in there, it’s like the steer tube is askew?

steerer tube needs to rotate so hole aligns with hole

When the brake bolt becomes structural.

lol yeah. managed to do that

how the heck did it get like that though, like should I even be riding this fork? it’s secondhand

I mean I don’t love it either, but I kinda doubt it’s going anywhere if you build it up and put a brake on there

I got the same wheels and yeah holy crap they are tight. Like “hard to turn by hand” tight. I backed the front off to where there’s no play, still tight imo, but if they do wear in then it’s probably fine.

I bought them to replace the rear hub with a fixed hub and figured I’d leave the front alone until it gets bad.

Alright I will do the same once I finally get around to using them. Just seems strange to me, I suspect these came from a surplus pile of wheels used as replacements for old mtbs and I can’t imagine the shop workers were intending on spending time adjusting the hubs!

Did you post this fork earlier? Or someone else posted the same type with the steerer removed?

wasn’t me!

I’m pretty sure the steerer threads into th crown.

yeah I was having a tough time discerning if it was the steerer or another piece that I was seeing. but I think you’re right, it was the steerer. interesting way to design a fork
