Did you just ShartQ?

Super fucking annoying. 4 bolt is NOT always 104, though in Surly’s case I’d bet my paycheck it is.

4 bolt spacing seems to be - ignoring weird shimano uneven 4 bolt

Recent 4x94 is the one I’d be worried about accidentally getting. Or possibly older XTR 4x116 (which had 4x68 small ring).
There’s also Campy 4x145, 4x112, and asymmetric 4x146.
And asymmetric 4x110.

Enough that when on a website clicking a different size doesn’t change the product picture I get real suspicious.

I’ve got a 1 x 9 speed microshift advent with a super short RD setup on my longtail ebike. Currently the microshift trigger shifter I have only allows me to shift with my thumb both up and down. I want to be able to use my index finger to upshift. There are so many microshift trigger shifters and I don’t know WTF one I need. Help me Tarck.

SQ wife’s coworker is trying to give away her husband’s 2013 Stumpjumper. It “needs work” and I don’t know the size but he’s apparently 3 inches shorter than me. I don’t have a mtb right now so I am clueless about what sort of quagmire a FS “needs work” bike would need. Should I take it on principle or is this a pass?

Is it 26" wheels or 29"?

That’s old enough it’s hard to get suspension service because parts might not be made and there’s limited options in decent 26" mtb tires anymore if it’s 26.

29ers from that era weren’t great but probably easier to deal with.

3" difference could still be within the same size, i.e. a medium will fit like 5’6-5’10

Hearing now it is a medium. I’m like 5’10.5" so I’m probably right on the border of too big for it then. Sounds like it could be a nice bike but maybe not for me

Yeah looking at a size chart, I think a medium would feel pretty cramped. I’m 5’10 and run a large in most mtbs. The reach numbers have gotten much longer on bikes, but most of my bikes are in the 620-625 top tube range (keeping on kind that modern bikes have short stems and wide bars which changed as reach got long).

If the suspension is shot, it’s largely not worth it anyway. If it’s been sitting in the garage forever, seals are probably dried up.
I would shoot got 2018 or newer on a used FS to stay in the still serviceable window.

I had an Epic 29er of that area. It was a great bike, but the suspension was a proprietary quagmine that I didn’t want to get into so I eventually stripped the parts and donated the frameset and wheels which had roached rims, broken nipples and proprietary axel standards.

I’m about the same height and the medium 2010s stumpy was way too cramped. Large frames generally feel more stable for me.

if you run into old suspension that really needs serviced you can send the shock to Risse Racing in Bend. They can service pretty much anything, for a price.

the fix to spec shock yokes before they made good dropper posts

I personally would not buy a full suspension from 2013. Especially one that needs work.

It looks like either of these will work:

You’ll need to stick with the advent (non X or MX) shifter to mate with the 9-speed cassette

Thx just ordered the quick trigger pro. Seems like the Internet thinks the express triggers are garbage.

not worth your time

do we have a consensus on the best portable bike pump?

is anyone besides racer types using co2 pumps any more?

what does everyone think about all of the electric bike pumps on the market now? foolish to trust a $40 rockbros electric pump?

had to use my partially faulty bontrager hand pump at slaughter pen after tearing a sidewall and it took no less than 300 pumps and i never wanna do that again.

I’ve always carried co2 off road. I got a $40 amazon little guy to keep in the ebike bag. it won’t really get 2.3x26 up to ebike psi but it will get me to limp home pressure. I will probably start carrying it instead of the co2 for mtb.
