Did you just ShartQ?

can anyone help me find a good quality rotary bike bell that goes bring-bring like a Crane bell that isn’t also $40 and not very durable like a Crane bell?

The last few rides on my MTB, occasionally when I try to grab a few larger cogs the chain will ascend but then drop way down the cassette into even smaller cogs and jam everything up.

M6100 cassette & dangler and KMC X12 chain all with about 1k miles, with a M8100 shifter. Chain wear tool doesn’t indicate any elongation.

Before I fire a parts cannon at the drivetrain does anyone have any adjustment ideas? The shift cable isn’t the smoothest pull but I don’t see how that would cause this particular issue.

For what it’s worth, this drivetrain has never shifted all that well even when it was new. I’ve checked the hanger alignment many times and it’s always fine.

Bent hanger?

check if it’s frayed and/or about to snap somewhere, or if you missed a housing end and the housing is fraying. initial tension pulling the cable to lower gears, then release of tension dropping into higher gears isn’t a common symptom of misalignment of the hanger or RD.

The stiffer than usual cable pull has been present ever since I got my original frame warrantied and swapped all the parts over.

I used new cable & housing but it just wasn’t as smooth as on the original frame.

What I can’t remember right now is if I used a Shimano coated cable or a stainless one.

are you diligent with cleaning up the burrs and stuff places where the housing is cut?

Raspberries!

Any internal routing?

I suppose extra friction could make it feel like the shifter clicks into place but the actual cable pulled is insufficient? I’m leaning towards a mulligan on cable and housing install.

Does the chain look like its long enough, is the new frame longer, does it behave the same way in the stand or only when under load ? Does it behave any differently if the clutch is off or on? I’d probably just start with new cables. Its pretty easy to lube the clutch if that is causing drag. There are youtube toots on it.

when you say the chain will drop way down the cassette into even smaller cogs, what do you mean? it does this without you shifting down the cassette? on its own? or you are shifting? is it hesitating and then dropping down too quickly?
when you say it jams everything up, what do you mean? the chain jams in the hub/frame? the der?
