Did you just ShartQ?

I had one that jammed up and I could never make it work again.

I borrowed a friends once and the combo changed on me while my bike was locked up. I think I just had to move the last number up or down one to unlock it, but it still was scary

After my ottolock combo went rogue, I switched protection to pure whimsy.

I’ve got one of these in my Tarck Secret Santa future gift pile, since my wife’s bike is small enough that installing it behind the bottle cage cramped bottle access too much. Otherwise it’s pretty nice.

Instead, I got a slightly smaller pocketable retractable cable lock that also seems good enough for low theft risk situations. They make a few sizes like this: https://www.abus.com/usa/Products/Bicycle-locks/Special-Locks/Combiflex-2503

Whimsy locking is the best. Yesterday I “locked” my bike at the beach with the plastic buckle on one of pockets of the bike bag attached to it.

This is a great rack. It was on a bike that got stolen and I miss it. Super sturdy.

One time Ash broke her U-lock key while locked up. Fortunately she was nearby my work and I was able to grab an angle grinder and ride over and cut the lock. I had to bring a looooong extension cord because the only grinder I could find was corded. I borrowed electric from a perplexed receptionist at an MMA gym.

Thanks. Sounds like a winner

I strongly considered that one, because you can’t really go wrong with Soma stuff. It was between that, the Surly 24-pack, and Pelago Commuter. Ultimately went with the EdSen Coffee Rack.

I wasn’t sure if I’d be into the non-adjustableness of the stays/struts on the Soma so it was the first to be taken out of the running.

It’s going on a soma fork. Pretty sure one of the pics has the tack mounted to my exact fork. I’ll trust the nonadjustable stays
