Did you just ShartQ?

Whats a good replacement for this bike?

I want discs + thru-axles + sweetly compliant ride feels. And some provisions for touring.

Alternatively, I’m considering modding this Radlawn with disc tabs. Cost of decent wheels + TRP Hylexs doesn’t seem that stupid. Figuring ~$200 for local f-builder to braze things.

Basically a hunter ditherer

No offense to Endpoint/Endpoint owners, but the production/QC issues concern me.
And thought those were more stout than floaty-planey?

Ditherers are stout

There is nothing in production currently that fits your criteria. If you want to keep the flexy frame you’ll either need a custom or get disc mounts on the radlawn. Your best bet would have been the radlawn xsogn that walmart was blowing out for like $700, but even those had stiffness akin to the ditherer, not the rsogn. You’re not going to find a flexy low trail frame with thru axles.

Crust Lightning Bolt? Not sure how butts or tire clearance compare to the nerdwagon.

Both worse than the rsogn. Wasn’t there a Seattle Instagram guy who got disc mounts on one of those? I might ask him how it has gone for him, because I would be leaning toward keeping the radlawn

Have your framebuilder lop off the current dropouts and replace them with t-a ones? On the rear end of the machine two birds could be killed with one stone by using one of the lovely (and expensive) Paragon disc mount dropouts,

They aren’t that expensive. You are already getting into a lot of bullshit so might as well get the good stuff.

I want this too. Let me know when you find it. Right now I’ve got 2 bikes with hella overlap, and I’d like to have just one.

Who here likes aluminum frames?

big time, but I keep getting steel because it’s way cheaper. I’m probably just talking tall here, but my next bike may well be a custom alu disc road machine.

One of my favorite bikes ever was an alu Cramerotti road bike. So stiff, yet so compliant. So unfortunate that it barely clears 23mm tires.

I’m thinking of going to check out the specialized allez because price is right but I don’t need a complete bike so what frames exist for cheaper? Also This is the regular one not the Sprint because I need that endurance geometry

I’m tempted to say that you need yoga classes not endurance geometry, but you know your body better than I do. I guess why get an alu crit frame if you’re not going to set it up as a little pedal powered rocket? This might not be a thing anymore, but one of the Bikes Direct road models was well regarded.
I mean, also a used CAAD10 is definitely not the wrong bike if you want fast alu road. I don’t know if modern aluminum can survive being stripped and repainted, but it certainly was something people used to do with them. They’re really cool bikes when they don’t have Cannondale’s rather gross graphics.

Yeah definitely got some research to do. The base model I just rode, all the components are trash, I’d replace everything meaning I shouldn’t buy it. $1300 105spec I don’t necessarily need either because I can just take parts off my other bikes. Buying a spesh frameset seems silly but I’m into the aluminum thing… at the same time I don’t know why I’m skurred of carbon but also that forks clearance would be tight w 28s.

I’m 5’7 with long legs. My Gunnar frame fit is 560/380 stack/reach. Spesh Sprint is too long and low in comparison I think

The normal allez, not the Sprint, is the same frame through the whole line, buy the sora equipped one and sell the parts you don’t need.

I don’t agree with yoga vs “endurance” geometry. The Sprint is a different animal, and the new normal allez is a really good bike, with geometry carried over from the roubaix. It’s not a crit bike anymore, it’s just an entry level road bike, plus the crabon feebray fork on it is pretty sweet according to spesh.

That said, why the allez over the Gunnar? What are you trying to accomplish? If you have parts and can spend $1300 on the allez, why not get something like a rock lobster? Custom Geo and fit, aluminum, option for whatever tire clearance you want…

Well that’s $1300 for a complete vs what you’re saying for a frame.

Also I’ve been stung 2-3 times by custom now, don’t want to wait months for something I can be riding now.

As far as why well the Gunnar has cantis and I can’t stand them tbh

How big of a tire do you want to run? There’s the aluminum diverge that’s (or at least was) available as a frameset
