NFE v.2 TA + custom tubes = 2700 bongs?
*edit omg
“If you want a specific brand of tubing, let us know and we’ll quote you a price. Expect to add about $200 to the cost of a frame.” So 1485 + 250 - 300

only clears a 48 or maaaybeee… 2.1 w/o fenders? .7/.4/.7 TT and basic butts? not sure about about noddleness of stays, I am curious crust?
Get the bmc road bike or soma es, or the mr pink if you want a carbon fork. No other options come to mind in the frame only category
This. It doesn’t matter so much with 700c, because there’s a wide selection of adequate to good rims available, but if you’re doing something boutique like 650b basically everything is eyepoppingly expensive and you want to keep from grinding dollar bills off your rims and depositing them on the highway.
(file this under “do as I say, not as I do”.)
Yep I’ll look at Soma es again. It does not come with a fork so carbon is an option
yeah, but it’s still time out of my life to rebuild wheels, and you can get into funkier rim shapes with disc. I think we’re basically agreeing here, as far as road bikes go
I mean, I can adjust some canti brakes to give you an unearthly tone if you’d like.
My go-to at the bike shop for squeaky brakes was always, “So you want me to make them louder for you, right?”
why not a Fogcutter?
bmc teammachine alr. threaded bb, lightweight frame and full carbon fork. disc frame will have clearance for a 28c easily, looks like more. rim brake def fits a 28c.
My ideal budget is $500 frameset.
Ive done some good riding on my older Bob Jackson that comfortably fit 32mm but I rode it with 28mm for some time. I kind of doubt that an aluminum rocket would ride as nice. Am I wrong?
That’s the reason for minimum 28mm, ideal would be 30-32mm
Has anyone ridden both stock NFE and an ultralight? Maybe @Andrew_Squirrel?
Curious if the difference is noticeable
wasn’t fred’s OG nfe made from wigglier toobs?
i love my caad10 and nothing anyone can say will change my mind
i think 28s fit just but i’m running 25s at the moment
i ride this thing every day and it is nice and goes fast
Your roads are smoother than Michigan.
I like this but it’s expensive
What about the other BMC? The Black Mountain Cycles road frame is $550 and uses standard reach brakes.
Yeah, thats also there in the running but Im not sure about the color.
Then there of course were opinions how thats not necessarily a nice frame if youre a tubing nerd (OS tubes)
Anything $500 new is going to be OS.
I’d say find a 10+ year old weight weenie road frame and run 650b PariMotos on it.
I just remembered the bike for you:
Giant OCR. Standard reach brakes and alu or composite frames. There’s a pile of the on the 'bay.
Ok let’s bring this back down to a couple of simpler questions:
is this about wanting an Allez Sprint you happened to notice, or is it about wanting an alu road bike more generally?
does this bike need to be comfortable for all day riding, or do you have other bikes for that?
Is there a reason you don’t want a stock bike?
Have you tried a road bike with 25-28mm tubeless tires as a way of getting a plusher ride out of a tighter frame?
I’m all for dithering, but I’ve gotten a little confused about what you’re atually looking for here
Igor needs his own dithering thread
arguably the best bang-for buck road race bike
28 pro-ones barely fit in mine. luv it.
