$1200 is not expensive for a new steel frameset - Gunnar charges about $1300 for a similar frame, and the fork is another $600 if you want Enve.
It looks as if they were selling completes with a 105 group for $1800. That’s not a bad deal at all.
I mean, expensive is a relative term - you can definitely get a Schwinn Varsity from your local thrift shop and with like $50 in parts from your local co-op have a bike that you can ride for years, right?
There are probably some other options out there, but I think that the Ritchey is the only one which you could walk into a bike shop today and order, and have by the end of next week.
damn i hate not having a good idea for a frame in mind. The frames from Gunnar/Waterford (via Ben’s) is the best deal for a made in USA right now but still 6 weeks out
SQ: I want new tires, bigger than 700x45mm. I really want something like Big Apples, but without the weight penalty. What exists? I’m looking at these x’plor ones, because i’ve been happy with their other tires in the past, maybe also Schwalbe G One in 29x2"?
Does anyone have experience with Shimano M-System housing? This stuff.
Specifically for mech discs like Spyres. Nashbar doesn’t sell their cheap KEB-SL rebrand anymore and I’m looking for a replacement. There’s one thread on MTBR about the housing but that’s it.
