Did you just ShartQ?

Cool, so there are decent solutions. Not cheap but cheaper than a wheelset.
Thx

Oh yeah boostinator

requires some redish tho

Did Kona have a bunch of excess roves lying around? I’m surprised to see them on CRC

Probably. The groad/touring bikes are a market with more offerings than customers, and while I love Kona bikes, they definitely don’t have the roadie following like the big brands…
Also not seeing them on the U.S. site.

What’s the best way to package a rim for shipping? I’m tempted to just sandwich it between two peices of cardboard and tape the edges but really don’t want it to get bent (obvs)

For the commuter or new to bikecaming friend, my lbs sells this model for 25% more. Funny cause places like bike24 puts a halt to selling brands to countries with distributors

Ah, yeah, Kona has their HQ a couple hours north of me. CRC is not showing me that url because of my IP. Must be the OZ distro clearing them out.

change country to UK and you can see em

The NRB is 1280gbp which is 1645usd which is pretty much retail here in the states

Kona flew through Roves in the US, and they were out of stock for months. I suspect that Chain Reaction selling them has to do with UK distributors and the fact that, with apologies, Europeans always seem to be a few years behind bike trends.

In everything but social democracy.

Big square box, rim in big bag, bubble layer, paper, bubbles on sides close to cardboard, paper on top, bubble layer, cut down box to size.

If you could brace the rim radially at regular intervals it would give it a lot more rigidity. Maybe alternately offset the braces for some lateral stiffness as well?

I wonder if all that bracing would get heavy. What if you strung wire across the rim? If you could keep the wire very taut it should keep it from bending.

When I get rims they are typically in a big rim sized box. No extra bracing.

You could have a little nut at the end of each strand to adjust the tension maybe?

I just bought some rims and they came in a big plastic bag. One rim still had the shrink wrap, the other didn’t. I wanted to be pissed but they arrived fine.

The bike industry ships rims wrapped in a few layers of plastic, stuck inside of a thing cardboard box. I don’t think I’ve seen seen a rim damaged in shipping.

My bike24 cheapass dynowheel was damaged in shipping, the connector was snapped off.

I think a regular wheel would be fine tho.

is ten speed road sram thumb shifter worth a damn?
is there any way to use MTB shifters?
