Did you just ShartQ?

They’re cross compatible, so if you could find a nice x0 or something, otherwise I think gx is still available new in 10sp.

Update on headsetgate. Someone suggested I wrap a tube around an expander plug to get it to fit securely in my steer tube. It took two layers of a non-lighweight tube to get it to stick. Then I pulled the headset apart (caged ball, not cartridge) and cleaned/greased everything. Put it back together and popped on a different stem. Felt good about the adjustment. For about 30 seconds of bouncing the front wheel and holding the front brake while rocking the bike back and forth. Then I started hearing the rattle again and felt the wobble in the fork.

I give up. New headset on the way. Getting a cane creek 10 because it’s cheap. I don’t need it to be hardcore, just to work for mostly roads and occasional simple trails. Unless there’s an amazing argument otherwise, I’ll save myself the $30 extra for the cane creek 40.

I’m currently running sram red with an old XO and it’s great. Did an inventory yesterday and I have something like 4 spare rear shifters, including a mint gripeshift, and zero spare danglers. Have been looking at GX 10 speed rears and they are pretty cheap.

The 10 has a garbage plastic compression ring and crown race.

Get the 40 or get the $35 origin8 which is also decent.

Echoing this. The 40 is basically the minimum barrier to entry with Cane Creek, but the Origin 8 is surprisingly high quality, as is this guy (definitely better than a Cane Creek 10). I’ll also add that I bought one of these headsets because I wanted a blue headset and it was $10, and it’s absolutely, 100% fine and at least as high a quality as any $40 one, though I expect the bearings to need replacement sooner (nbd).

Also, isn’t your whole problem the star nut? Should I just order you a 1.5" star nut @Timarchylime?

Best commercial outdoor bike rack? The one at my office was taken down so they could do work on the lobby.

Maybe this one? Angled staple racks all attached at the base so they are harder to mess with.

basically a row of staple racks are the best from a usability standpoint. Architects and designers hate them, but function first.

Hey I’ve been calling around with no avail. The C-clip and washer need to be replaced in the brake lever. In general do those replacement parts exist, or am I going to make life better by replacing the whole lever…?

Thx

A whole new brake lever/hose/caliper is stupid cheap and pre-bled.

I need brakes for my Mone. Don’t really want to spend more money and the SRAM Level are too short for this bike (take off a diff bike)

Do I just get the Shimano 315 and see how they go?

Mone?

lol that triplane stem

what kind of bike is it? I’d imagine the 315s are fine if you’re doing a more commuter type bike. Don’t know if I’d go with those for sustained descents, but I have no experience with those aside from riding some hybrids around the block.

I mean, you could buy hoses to make the levels work, but don’t know if that’s much cheaper than the shimano set.

what’s to hate about staple racks? do they absolutely ruin the lines or something?

^re staple racks, they’re too generic for architects to get excited by.

I’m waiting for a company to say, "we’re committed to this product and providing the pieces necessary to keep it on scene.’ I’d pay for an entire component group under that.

This is why you ride Hope brakes.

I need the parts available at a brick and mortar shop so I can weekend bike repair outing and tacos

Yep. Too generic.
And too elegant a solution. They refuse to believe that something so simple can’t be improved upon (by someone who knows nothing about bikes).
