You could do this on some old bmx bikes but doesn’t work in any other application.

That’s 1" BMX, which has 32.6 cups, not standard 1" ISO, which has 30.2 cups.
The knowledge is deep here
Do these brakes not take ferrules? Because none on the ones I can find will fit in the barrel adjuster.
Yeah that looks fuxxored.
No ferrule.
What is the absolute most glass cut resistant tire in like a tubed 700x25-28 sizeway. Don’t care about how it rides, my buddy just needs to be able to ride across Oakland without picking up a puncture. Vittoria rando with finish line milk filled tubes? Schwalbe marathon of some type? Bonus points for budget friendly options, as we’re outfitting two bikes.
I used to be into the Gatorskin when I rode across Oakland on the daily. These days, I give fewer fucks and YOLO the Heine Barlow Pass.
Short of tubeless, I found the best puncture protection was any tyre with Mr Tuffys.
Some wire bead POS that comes on the cheapest bikes imaginable
Oh man MrTuffys bringing me back to shop days. They do offer good protection from punctures. The issues is that people often don’t install them correctly and they squirm between the tube and tire and wear the tube through or sorta pinch flat the tube when pressure is low.
I put Orange Seal into tubes nowadays.
Same
Specialized Armadillo or any hardcore Schwalbe touring tire with Orange Seal in the tubes.
If your really don’t care about how it rides, try the Soma Everwear.
You get extra points from the community for collecting all the glass and storing it in your overbuilt tires.
I wanna say some boat anchor Schwalbe but I don’t know how much of that they offer in that size range.
It comes up here a lot but people are still having good luck with sealant in tubes? Is it like people get fewer flats or have people actually seen a tube seal a puncture with sealant? On my bikes I don’t have much to lose by putting an ounce of sealant in a tube but for some reason I’m surprised it works.
I hadn’t thought about armadillos or ever wears another one I used to use all the time was the bontrager hardcase.
OK, time to start honestly searching
shimano brakes never take ferrules, at least for the last few decades. i don’t recall ever meeting one that does.
There was some discussion somewhere here not long ago about what to do when a SRAM/Avid wet brake developed zero free lever pull. My rear XO Trail brake has that problem now. Might have something to do with having not been bled in three years. Front brake still feels fine.
The resolution was to bleed them? Or was it to remove them entirely and replace with Shimano? I can’t remember.
Sounds like Swollen Piston Syndrome.
Easiest solution is Always Shimano.
