Did you just ShartQ?

I would like to see some heatmap data to find some new places to ride. Is Strava not-free version the best way to do this?

They paywalled the heatmap? lame.

Strava heatmap is free / freemium.

Personal heatmap is paid (and really fun fwiw)

WAT

I assumed the many peoples heatmaps cost $.

Will an 11 spd Shimano mountain dangler shift over a 10 spd cassette with an appropriate 10 spd shifter? Dangler in question is a RD-M7000-11.

The chainline on the Lorry got pushed out to 51mm by the torque sensing BB and that’s feeling too extreme on the largest cog. Rear spacing is 135mm, so hoping that swapping out the cassette and shifter will be all that’s needed to help that.

I don’t think so. Supposedly 11 and 12 are now on the same pull but 10s dynasys is it’s own weird dead end. They are super close in ration and cable pull though so it may work… also the cog spacing on 10 and 11 Shimano mountain is super close too, so you may be able to just toss a 10s cassette in there and have it work well enough for cargo shenanigans.

Oh well boo. Not sure I feel like experimenting if I have to order parts anyway.

Oh, but what’s this? 10 and 11 compatibility. Guess I should do some more research.

Interesting.

some folks have been swearing up and down for years that 10/11-spd Shimano MTB were cross compatible just like the old stuff and yeah I think Shimano just out and confirmed that officially when they launched the new Deore parts. When you dig into the compatibility docs RD-M4120 and RD-M5120 are claimed to be 10&11 compatible with any of the 10- and 11-speed MTB shifters.

Is there anyone who’s tested the 11/12 speed compatibility yet? I’ve suspected they’re the same, because the 11-speed RD-M5100:

and 12-speed RD-M6100:

appear to be exactly the same derailleur with different stickers and pulleys, but I have not actually gotten my meats on the parts yet to try some !science!

I’m testing 12/12 compatibility. So far so good  Also did read that an 11 derailleur will pull the same as a 12 with a 12 shifter while looking into mixing SRAM/Shimano 12.

That’s what I was hoping for with mine since I normally pay zero attention to mountain group stuff. Turns out the M7000-10 and M7000-11 parts are listed in their respective 10 and 11 spd groups only. They’re also physically different in enough ways just looking at pics, so who knows. Had they not changed 10 spd cable pull on road parts with the new Tiagra stuff, I might feel more confident experimenting.

That’s exciting news. That means the 10 speed Shimano derailleur I have never used may be useful one day work with just the addition of an 11 speed shifter.

The older 10s don’t work as well with big cogs, since there was nothing larger than 40 or 42 until 11s.

Yip. But it would typically be in a 2x scenario with a 40 tooth max sprocket, or even a 36.

interested in a budget minded GPS computer
is now the time to buy a used garmin?

The Wahoo Bolt is the best bang for the buck. ATMO.

if i can find my old 510 (no basemaps) i’ll make you a great price and then take less than a month to ship it this time

Backing this. You may be able to find a Garmin cheaply, but be prepared for headaches.
