haha, that’s exactly the same reason I got these: persistent leak issues with an XT M8000 caliper/Ultegra R8020 lever setup (mixed & matched because I needed post-mount calipers). It wasn’t the lever’s fault, but trying not to get brake fluid all over my hoods/tape made dealing with the issue infinitely more frustrating than bleeding brakes on a flatbar mountain bike, so I basically ragequit dropbar hydro. Haven’t regretted it once.

Exactly 100% where I’m at with it. how are both the caliper AND the lever leaking??? ffs. plus I am smol man so the lever ergonomics of a big honking master cylinder having hydro lever have never been great for me. much prefer the cable-shake ergonomics.
Todays tubeless DQ
So I was removing a tubeless valve from one wheel so I could use it in another wheel because apparently I have a total of 2 tubeless valves in my whole house.
I really struggled getting it out and I have some pretty powerful hand clampers from playing guitar. Is this normal? If this happened on the road I’d have been fucked. What do you do, bang it with a rock?
Also another DQ; I just installed a Red cassette. All of the cogs go on together except the smallest. Is it correct that the smallest cog does not have an exact orientation relative to the rest of the cassette or did I miss something.
I already installed it and I can’t find a chain whip to uninstall right now, it seems to have disappeared. So please tell me it is okay.
Press down on the valve from inside the rim in order to compress the rubber, and then twist the nut. You can get nuts that are more amenable to opening with your fingers. Otherwise, Leatherman Squirt PS4 is pretty much the best tiny tool to have near you at all times.

The nut part was fine, pushing the valve out was horrible.
What was causing the resistance to removing the valve? Tape? Accumulated sealant?
Well then yes, absolutely smash it with a rock if need be. Wiggling usually helps.
I don’t know but after lots of wiggling and swearing I got it out. If it happened on a ride I would have just banged it out with a rock semi-destructively.
Today is the day I add the Orange Seal and attempt to get a seal

I’ve had good luck with seating the tire first, then adding sealant through the valve.

It is a fresh tape job, but the wheelbuilder did it.
I can’t get the tire seated at all. Both beads sit in the channel in the center, which means they are also sitting on top of the valve.
