what’s up with all the Shimano production fuckery I’m hearing about? Are they actually straight out of new components, or are they just delaying their next generation of groupsets until late 2021?
I’ve heard both that: unexpectedly high demand for OEM means consumer access to individual parts is going to seriously dry up and that this was going to happen, but is getting managed by delaying the new stuff.
If anyone knows, dish. I like Shimano and have a few projects on the bubble, but don’t want to have to deal with sourcing takeoff components from like ten different outlets.

Who is making the best frame pump (for under the top tube) these days.
I have a 9+ year old Blackburn on my English, I took it off to inspect it and the rubber seal has degraded to the point that it is crumbling. It’s a good thing I looked because I don’t carry CO2.
Blackburn is no longer making frame pumps, so no replacement parts.
Should I just bite it and buy a Silca?

Definitely this. It’s already getting ugly. My advice, don’t torch a derailleur. ESPECIALLY a 1x12 one.

yeah, are SRAM and Campagnolo having the same problems? Maybe this is what gets me to try a hyrdo brake mech shift Force groupset
edit: though I’d sorely miss the frission of danger that comes from knowing that your crankarms might fucking rend themselves asunder at any moment
I’ve got a topeak, it’s fine, and a ten bong bike with a non matching twenty buck frame pump has a certain sprezzatura to it.

I reached out to Topeak and Park and both have discontinued their frame pumps. Silca and Zefal are the current players on the market going forward

Sram road less affected. Shortages on Eagle stuff, but more sporadic.
Shimano has shortages from top to bottom and back again. From $25 repair hybrid cranks to XT danglers.

Man I thought I was becoming kind of crazy stockpiling parts but now I kinda want to check my inventory again. I think I’ve got spares for all the real consumables on the bikes I actually ride but maybe I should make sure…

I seem to be able to source Shimano parts from Taiwanese sellers on eBay.
I was looking for CN-HG701 chains earlier this week, but almost everyone is out of stock. Lots of CN-HG901, though.
Neither of these are gold, so I’m not sure why it matters.
