Did you just ShartQ?

Everyone can have a little gold chain, as a treat.

Did you watch the video of the attempt? It was the most awful thing, the entire ride was on a busy 4-lane highway.

I don’t have a problem with the actual attempt though – I mean if you are going to go for the absolute fastest time outdoors you have to have ideal conditions. Having a tailwind doesn’t negate the record.

True when you look at it that way. People take that approach designing fast fleche routes.i mean it is still slightly bullshit but that’s the game.

Some of my areas fastest cycling routes are just glorified truck breakdown lanes along busy highways. The traffic especially trucks creates looong low pressure zones and a cycling hyperloop effext. Like its not nice cycling but fun to go fast on. Lots of 50+ km/hr koms.

I wonder if he drafted trucks. They didn’t show it in the video.

Maybe not directly but there is so much drag just from a vehicle passing, and it’s not like there is just one. I thought the alledged comments from the designer of his bike were interesting.

Where? I watched the video on GCN

Yep. Unless there are two versions. The rider said that the designer of the bike, (I think it’s a giant trinity), said it was still the fastest bike he had ever designed, or some such.

maybe it is all pointless

I’m not sure how, but I have 5 old 3 oz tubes of Phil grease. I decided to buy a grease gun to fit them and rather than measuring the tubes and looking shit up I just ordered the grease gun from Phil that says it fits 3oz tubes.

Guess what? don’t fit.

I have an email out to Phil about it, but if there’s some cheap and easy bushing I can get to fit it I’d like to do that. I attempted to measure the threads of the grease gun but they appear to be Standard Alabama Equivalent and I only have European thread measuring tools.

The gun is 9/16, have not yet attempted to measure thread pitch, but it feels between 1.25 and 1.5mm. Tube is 3/8 20tpi.

I have a 12x142 frame and bought a dt 12x148 rear wheel, different hub body length and same end caps for 142 and 148 hubs. Shorter end caps will put the der and brake alignment out of wack right.

Assuming that’s true, will running the 148 hub in the 142 frame cause the welds to crack on the aluminum frame?

Definitely not a good idea.

Shit, new wheel it is.

What’s worse is that I knew this was the answer.

I have one of these filled with motorex:

And another with Mobilux EP1 and all sorts of other weird-ass lubricants.

Yea, those are the type I’ve used at every bike shop I’ve every worked at, but I’m looking for a plug and play solution to using up these 5 old tubes of Phil grease.

I have those one I use with finish line lithium grease but no idea if it’s compatible with the Phil grease tube

should work. size: true

Nah, it’s 9/16 thread.

I have yet to find an adapter that works. Now I’m looking for an aluminum or nylon 9/16 plug to drill and tap a 3/8 hole through the middle. Either that or a 3/8 threaded gun.

I found mention of a threaded adapter as a generic grease gun part in an ancient forum thread but all links are dead.

those are really old tubes. all the new ones have the larger nozzle i think.

fill new tube with old tube of Phil?

@Face I’ll trade you a new tube for an old tube if you want

this would be easy to 3d print, what are the threads?

I see there’s designs for the WTB grease guard style adaptor:
