Did you just ShartQ?

Rotating backwards? Probably drag in the freehub. Which is likely not and issue at all. What kind of hub?

King hubs. Just serviced so I’m wondering if it’s grease or something

I haven’t had a repair stand in forever until now which is why I just noticed it

king hubs are kinda draggy like that ime. bearings are good and smooth but the drive mechanism is a bit annoying. i kinda really dislike them tbh

If it isn’t enough drag to cause the chain to sag when coasting, it’s fine.

That being said… too heavy a grease (or too much) in the drive side hub-shell bearing is the likely root cause.

OR… the weight of the ring drive lube can be at play. R45 hubs are no longer supposed to get King ring drive lube as it’s a bit heavy for the finer internals in the R45 compared to the mtb hubs. At least, last I checked.

For a while they were just telling us to use a wee bit of 10w30.

i have a quart of 10w30 for exactly this hub, per CK rec.

@anon3547885 you are in a money spending phase with bikes? do you have all the CK tools for home hub service?

I do not have all the CK tools. Hubs are generally something I’ve left to the shop.

Oh good news, the bushings on my eeBrakes are so old and sun exposed that they are crumbling and I am going to die.

I don’t think that Superx will clear more than a 35 sans fenders and 32 with, you know racebiek things…

For that SEK I’d go with the On-one ugly things, or even get their Bootzipper poopmtb-rig for even more cheap.

And if you can fuxXx with paying ā€œbrexit taxā€ Ribble has some pretty nice bikes for you as well.

Would these look dumb on my black bike? I don’t understand why but these are cheaper than black ones by quite a bit

Here’s one:
Looking for replacement hoods for my ST 5510 shifters.
Last I looked these are unobtainable, but are there any ā€œclose enoughā€ alternatives?

Those are awesome, but since you’re on a rim brake kick, the latest generation of Ultegra and Dura Ace offer more clearance than any other short reach brake I’ve ever seen.

I have the R8000 ones and they clear 30mm Challenge Strada Pro (31.6mm measured) with a mm or two of clearance.

I know Shimano brakes are for plebes but I’d rather have fancy tires than fancy brakes.

shitload of duct tape on top of a few wraps of insulation foam tape?

My clearance is limited by my fork, not by my brakes. I could probably get a 32 under these on a different fork

And it looks like you could get another couple mm

Edit: full quote is about Campy splined freehubs lacking damage over many years.

Way late to this discussion, but isn’t it also much less likely that campy freehubs have been on MTBs or other bikes with tiny chainrings and huge cogs putting more torque on the splines?

Can you get someone to paint your shakes to match em?

Oh, hey, something in my drivetrain is making chirping noises. Thinking it’s my jockey wheels.

What’s the best way to make them as quiet as possible? Type of lubricant, etc.

I tried ball bearing ones a while back and they got noisy way more quickly than Shimano ones.

Do it

The whole idea of those brakes is to be taf and silly. I say, sure.

Do they sell rebuild kits with the bushings?
