I just show up sweaty and idgaf

Who’s got swamp ass?

If I plug a tire and the plug seems to be holding, am I good to keep using that tire as I normally would or is the plug just a stopgap to get me home and the tire is trash?

I got double flats that wouldn’t seal on brand new tires and I’m not excited about spending $160 right now to replace them.

You’re good. Ride em into the ground.

Great.

2nd DQ: I used two different kinds of bacon strips. One was way thicker than the other and the needle inserter was way bigger (smaller: Genuine Innovations, bigger: Lezyne). Should I be looking for a smaller needle and smaller bacon since I’m riding either road or gravel tires? Does it not make a difference?

Doesn’t matter, bigger will use fewer strips typically and plug a wider range

it really doesn’t make a difference in my experience- use whatever bacon you got that’ll plug the hole

companies are playing with different types/formulations of bacon-plug (stan’s DART for instance) but I think the jury’s still out on exactly what is best, so my advice would be use what works

So I think about this sometimes and it’s a wheel with a tire

Technically the rubber is always up and down at all times, even when the wheel is horizontal.

Maybe it should just be “rubber exists”

maintain contact between the rubber and the ground at an approved angle not more acute than approximately 45deg measured perpendicular to ground surface at point of contact

Bigger is often better for any hole on a tire that is run above 30psi. The bacon strips can definitely have issues staying put as the pressure goes up. Dynaplug is definitely the best for this sort of thing. But they are pricey.

That aside, if it’s holding, send it.

“Rubber side down” refers to the rest of the machine that the rubber/wheels are attached to doesn’t it? Thats how I always interpreted it.

Will these be a terrible option to drop bra swap my XC bike for a gravel event? VO has sale going on and I’m intrigued;

ergo mustache bar?

I liked my old dirt drops kinda. I like the drops, didn’t like how they basically only lock you in one position.

Speaking of tire plugs, I used a Dart for the first time the other day. The tire was ancient and worn out so I decided to replace it even though the plug worked great. When I took it off, I tried to pull the plug out of the tire and couldn’t do it even when I grabbed it with pliers! That thing was in there!

Surly Corner bar maybe? No need to change shifters/levers etc.
